  1. I get a kick out of reading of the $250 additional fee when purchasing an eBay paper claim. Proof positive that there is no existing claim, rather just a promise to file a claim and deed after you pay the additional $250. I've seen it done and the stupid seller forgot to file it at the county. Buyer has been filing his annuals, looks good on the BLM Serial Register Page, but still not a valid claim. I've also seen buyers go directly to BLM and purchase 160 acres (4-40) and guess what, still no county recording 6 months later. BLM doesn't care, they got their money. THANK YOU TODD HOFFMAN
  2. "...survival skills to go it alone"...Alone? Who's running the cameras???
  3. Wife is running a Fisher Gold Bug and I'm running a Tesoro Lobo SuperTraq. Tailings will be dry but there's a lot of bedrock with no overburden just a foot underwater.
  4. What does everyone find convenient for holding tools, pinpointer, etc? And, what tools would you consider carrying for beeping tailing piles and exposed bedrock in a wet placer environment? Thanks Bob
  5. Why the redundant words in the model name? (AU Gold) Something doesn't sound right. Oh wait, is that the Tesoro Cazador?
  6. I've had it with all this snow we've got here in north central Idaho. I moved down here from Wasilla, Alaska back in 2007 and we never had this much snow in Wasilla. I've recently sold all my placer claims and I'm starting to scale down all my assets. Retirement up here has been nice but I need to warm my bones. We're looking at Nevada or Arizona as our next and final residence. We want to continue our pursuit of the gold but we'll have to get re-trained to dry prospecting and swinging our metal detectors. If you were to recommend a location within those two states that offers the opportunity to continue gold prospecting, I'd greatly appreciate it. Oh, and any gold clubs you recommend would be helpful. We'll drive down for an exploratory trip before commiting. Thanks Bob
  7. Steve, do you experience any falsing from having the coil so close to the metal box or cable pigtail?
  8. Usually working within a 5 mile atv ride from camp so 1st aid kit is #1 on my list. Learned that the hard way a few years back. I'm a bleeder due to statins so one day I was working my pan and this one annoying blade of grass kept sweeping into the pan. I figured i'd just pull it, roots and all so I grabbed the blade and pulled. Apparently the roots were deeper than I though and the blade slid through my hand and ran a deep cut into 4 fingers. I scrambled up to the atv and grabbed some toilet paper and a roll of duck tape for some makeshift bandages. I now have a well supplied 1st aid kit in my backpack and another in the atv. Safety First! Bob
  9. Do you remember the time of day that you discovered the 'V' formation? A repeat trip during that hour, +/- a hour or two, could help. Shadows change the look of things in a 3D world. Bob
  10. Ray I found a wind downed fir tree whose roots were packed with gravel and out of curiosity, pulled a pan sample. Found gold so I never overlook a windfall in gold county. Gold From a Windfall Bob
  11. I'll bet that studies have been done that show better sales come from pre-release gossip. Everyone is doing it like you said...Fisher, Minelab, Tesoro, Whites. If a new model was kept secret until it was stocked on store shelves, where would everyone go to get the lastest gossip / info? It would be months after the first sales before anyone could get any feedback. Whose going to pull the trigger on a mysterious new model and risk being a Beta Tester? I do believe that 30-60 days prior to release is more than enough time to generate gossip from pre-release info. Any more than that, they're just frustrating their potential buyers. Bob
  12. Liked those first series of pics...good looking bedrock. Next best thing to being there
