  1. You must have a huge tumbler, mine only holds about 1 cup.
  2. Wow, wet these areas are all but undetectable. We usually don't hunt these sites until the ground is bone dry.
  3. I'm so looking forward to the machine arriving. Now, that said, according to Dimitar, the coal coke will not be a big issue for the Tarsacci. Already decided if it performs and brings some good targets into range for me to extract I'll be selling the Pro Arc and the Equinox 800 for sure.
  4. JCR is correct. I've been looking for part 4 but I guess it's not there. Still thinking this will give me an idea of the sounds prior to the Tarsacci arriving.
  5. What do you put in the rock tumbler with the coins?
  6. Wow, better than I've ever done at the beach. The Tarsacci must be working for you.
  7. There is a guy sending me his Tarsacci to try. He said it has a learning curve but I'm up to it. I plan on using it exclusively and not pick up another detector till I get the hang of it. May of the places where I hunt is the iron bearing red clay of Virginia. On top of that, throw in a mix of thick coal slack and you have some of the worst cases of VLF shutdowns. Been hunting these locations for 10+ years and can say it's tough ground to punch through. Between me and my hunting buddy we have had over a dozen different VLF machines at these locations. Of all, the White's TDI SL has outperformed them all, but without discrimination. I'll keep everyone posted as I progress.
  8. Wow, looks like you had fun. I've always loved beach hunting but the last time I went I used the Equinox 800, did okay but nothing like you.
  9. Coke areas mentioned are like the ones where I live. Living in the mountains of Virginia, coal was the primary heat source for 100's of years and the waste was just thrown out where ever they could. Most if not all of this waste is anywhere from BB to golf size. The TDI is the only machine I've used that can pull good targets from amongst this stuff.
  10. After I get the bag to fit the way I need, I cut a small hole and insert the headphone cable, then seal with duct tape. Gives enough protection in a sudden rain storm and the ocean spray that comes with a heavy wind. I don't venture deeper than maybe 2-4" into the water and I use an arm cuff to prevent dropping the detector into the water.
  11. I beach hunt with my SL. I have a heavy duty zip lock bag that I enclose the box with and then seal the head phone cable. It's a little inconvenience but I can adjust the machine through the bag.
  12. I really like the 7 1/2" DF coil. Its found me some nice items including a gold ring.
  13. I think the guy only does this part time, but that is only a guess. I've heard the time domain technique is close to a PI but that again is only what I've read.
  14. My TDI SL still delivers and it's over a decade old. Still the go to machine in my coal slack areas, hands down. PI's rule there.
  15. Thanks I'll send them an email. Don't remember ever getting to try the mono coil. But Nelson sent me the miner john coil to try years ago.
  16. I have tried for 4 years to find a true mono "oz" coil for my White's TDI. Had one guy sell me the 7 1/2" White's coils for an OZ coil but it turned out to be the White's TDI dual field coil according to one of the engineers that worked at White's. Some of the areas where I hunt have harsher ground than the red dirt in northern Virginia. This is man made issues because of the coal slack (that easily attracts to a magnet) discarded over many decades in these areas. The TDI has found many targets that the best VLF machines could only ID as iron.
