  1. Found this one in my own yard. I'm guessing WW2 maybe.
  2. Send it in to be checked. Minelab will take care of it.
  3. Well actually that is my daughters hand, she was very happy. The first ring that she wanted in years. Couldn't say no.
  4. 1 copper 2 sterling 3 ring day Until my wife saw them, then my daughter, then there were only 2 left. The one on the left bottom is actually my daughters birthstone. Quick as I can straighten the one on the right, I'll be down to only 1. Pretty good day.
  5. Very nice silver. I can say, I have never saw silver look like that out of the ground. Almost like it has toned. Nice though.
  6. At this point, it's the best I've ever used. You're right Steve, it has a little extra depth too.
  7. Fantastic news, the pinpointer has returned. I will say, 1st Texas has always done me right on warranty issues.
  8. Barbers are always a pleasant surprise. Looks like the ground is not good on copper coins.
  9. Wow, some fantastic finds to say the least. I've never found some of those items.
  10. Wow, awesome bunch of silver. Research really paid off.
  11. I've noticed the same thing with deep copper pennies and also dimes and quarters. To me that is a good thing. I remember a few times when I knew it was going to be a deep quarter but it turned out to be a deep dime. But, I'm good with up averaging with depth. I'm very happy with my Equinox.
  12. Looked through all my war nickels and tested all the S mint coins. All read 13 except the 1943's. Interesting.
  13. This is so interesting, I had to look through my war nickels and find a 43 S and test on my Equinox. Most of the war nickels I've found were located and dug with other detectors, with only a few found recently with my Equinox. Well anyway, my Equinox ID the nickel at 15. All my other war nickels were 12-13. Interesting, I may need to rethink all the 14-15 ID's I've passed by especially at the older school locations. I also looked up the war nickel information in the Red Book and there is no mention of changing the composition from Copper 56%, Silver 35% and manganese 9%.
  14. Got another one yesterday. This time a solid 13 and only 4" deep in the red clay dirt of Virginia.
  15. On my Equinox 800 they are always 12-13. There is a slight difference between park and field programs but still between 12-13.
  16. It's all about the audio. I had both the Tejon and Vaquero, several years ago and I got good at knowing when the target was a pencil eraser end. It should always be the audio first.
  17. Kinda makes me want one of those machines. I had an XP Deus a few years back, did quite well too.
  18. Thanks for the compliment. I try to clean the entire detector at least every other hunt. Of course I don't do the same kind of hunting as in Colorado.
  19. Generally I like to have my sensitivity at 22, then do a noise cancel. Set the detector down with the coil, vertical to the ground and check the air distance using a dime. If I can only get 10" I'll do another noise cancel and see if the noise cancel numbers change, then I do the dime test again. At times I'll change to different programs to see how things change. Sometimes it helps and sometimes the noise get much worse. I will add, I don't always check the dime because I'm going to hunt either way. All this is really strange when I move 50-70' away and all of a sudden I can get 12" on the air test without changing any settings.
  20. This may be worth mentioning. After performing a noise cancel I generally test the machine to see the approximate air distance. Using a dime, then EMI is not so bad I can get a good repeatable on the dime at 12". When I can't get a repeatable beep at 10 I will check the EMI and adjust accordingly. I know this might not be exactly what you are asking but if EMI is high, you'll loose a lot of depth. I have two marks on my lower shaft, one at 10 and another at 12". If I can't get at least a 10" signal I adjust accordingly. There's been a few locations where nothing helps. Just my 2 cents.
