At MetalDetectingStuff.com, I was able to purchase an X-Terra Pro for $229.50 shipped by entering the promo code, military.
I also had to send them a photo of my driver’s license with the veteran designation.
At Big Boys Hobby they only allow Military and Veterans discounts on machines over 400 bucks. I'll use your store next time!

Thank you very much for a clear, concise, and thorough review. A+ 🙂
Regarding your above quote:
In a recent video, Dilek had said that some users were reporting a long a pairing time, but Dilek also mentioned it only occurs on the initial pairing when the Accupoint is first used. Dilek also mentioned that it only occurred on their first batch they shipped, because they updated the software on the rest of the Accupoints before shipping those out. Apparently, the updated version significantly reduces that initial pairing time.
I don't recall Dilek mentioning that Legend owners have to upgrade to v1.12 for the Accupoint to work, but I might have missed something. As far as I know, v1.12 is supposed to mainly be about the new "boost mode" that their head engineer was working on.Why would you need to upgrade the detector software if you do not pair or connect with it?

How many of the ubiquitous pull-tabs do you need to dig before finding gold? I'm sure that the answer depends on what type of detecting you are doing and with what machine. On a recent hunt at a fresh-water lake I was using my Excal and noticed that someone had been there before me. I was finding lots of undug pull-tabs (and other trash) so I figured that they were skipping those targets and maybe just looking for coins.
I decided to dig all the high and mid-tone signals to see if that would lead to something good and after about 2 hours of detecting, dozens of pull-tabs, and a sterling silver band later, my efforts were rewarded with a gold ring. At first I thought that the ring was stamped "10k" but later I was surprised to see that it was actually 8.6 grams of "18k" instead. Inside the ring are 2 sets of initials and a wedding(?) date from over 50 years ago. I would like to find the person who lost it but doing so could be a big challenge.
In about 5 hours of hunting I wound up with 166 pull-tabs and the one piece of gold jewelry. It tried my patience and was a lot of work but totally worth it to me. I also found lots of bottle caps and foil along with about 70 coins and 2 silver rings. Since that hunt I tested the ring on my Equinox and its TID read around 20. Pull tabs usually come in around 13 so maybe I could have used the Nox and saved all that extra digging?
All of them....

Late posting here but when things are held down with mounting tape you can use fishing line to split it from the part. Just slip along an edge and work it back and forth like a saw, take your time.
Changed the battery in my iPhone and hear ya on the reality that it isn't always as easy as people say.
Unwaxed dental floss works well also.

Decided on the Xterra Pro. If that gets boring I'm thinking Deus 2. Thank everyone for the comments. Very much appreciated!
Physical shape is cutting back on my hunts.

I won't argue further but to say that the Legend has just at much "bling" as any of the Equinoxes, and as much if not more than the M-core or the Deus. Same learning curve. I'm 63 and appreciate the swing all day thing 😀
Plenty of posted settings around for all, lots of help here. I know some stodgy characters that switched to the D2 lately just because it weighs so little, lighter than an Apex with the 9". I'm not talking about the WS6 Master, but that is even lighter.
Absolute killer relic machine and coin shooter. Kinda a "Go big or go home" deal IMO. 🤔
Looks like the XTerra Pro is doing well, if single frequency is your thing that might suffice. 🙂 Good luck to you.
No argument here. I'm going to look again at the Deus II with just the control and 9" coil. 1199.00
Actually 1099.00 free shipping no tax!

Here's an uncomplicated answer:
Deus 2. 🙂 Lightest machine there is.
Nice but too complicated for me right now.

I'm having a hard time transitioning to old man status. I am an experienced detectorist but I can't seem to decide on the Legend or Xterra pro. I can afford either but don't want both. Maybe my brain is slipping or something. I can run the Legend in single frequency if needed. I don't go near beach or salt water. The Manticore is nice but I don't need all that bling. Just need a light machine. Hate to ask this seemingly stupid noob question but I would like some simple input. Don't need any complicated answers.
Thanks

I hated my V3i until I learned how to use the adjustments. Then I hated it more! I spent more time playing and analyzing things than finding treasures. I finally come to terms that the MXT was a better fit for me. Now I need something like 3 lbs. Soooo. Decisions decisions. Patients really is a virtue, I ran out of both. Getting a xterra pro and enjoying my cigar and bourbon.

Most of the time US modern nickels and V nickels have been 25/26. The only common aluminum target that I regularly find with those numbers are beaver tails broken off of ring pulls and the occasional bent/damaged square or oval pull tab.
Hate to say it, but none. I have a torn rotator cuff. So no swinging for me for awhile. But I remember usually bent square ones.

I'll get it eventually. I'm used to the Whites detector scale. -99 to +99

I think you replied to glacialgold instead of me. lol. Lots of things to press🙃
Or the other way around.

So, Jeff. The Legends ID having less resolution than the Nox makes it easier to see the difference in pull tabs vs nickles?
I'm trying to understand why a 0 to 60 scale is better than a 0 to 99 scale. Thank you.

I watched your video and as you were adjusting the stabilizer and how it was affecting the signal I noticed that stabilizer still said OFF when you were increasing it.
For the stabilizer, the new instruction manual does mention that you're only supposed to use it in heavy iron. But it doesn't matter much if the on/off setting for it doesn't work!
Definitely something off with the update!
Looks like the stabilizer is set to 0 and the stabilizer filter is off.
