G'day Squizz, Hadn't "seen" you around on the forum for a wee while. Mate....awesome finds....& in that heat. Very well done. I take my hat off to you. I don know how you & my Aussie cousins across the ditch (Tasman Sea) can detect in those heats. The heat really knocks me about. I hate it. If I ever leave a suspect signal un dug ( which is very rear), it is when it is bloody hot. Hot days are usually my goldless days. That pattern I have noticed. More so if I have had a bit of a hike to get to an area as there is always the walk back out. Give me the cold any day. You can dress for that, as long as it isn't too windy with that wind chill factor added. The only down side of the cold is when the ground freezes & makes for digging in "concrete". Again....well done & good to see you posting. I was missing you.

    Good luck out there

    JW

    JW ,

I was supposed stay for 2 days , but the first day was hard and hot , but rewarding so I decided to make tracks for home and return in a week or so's time. Here's hoping for cooler weather.

    Regards

Squizz you've just had a Zed experience so better get used to the deep holes and sharpen your pick.  Also there is heaps of deep rubbish left missed by other detectors.

Have a mate who has had great success with his 5000 and the other day said l'm getting a Zed l just can't compete with your zeds l can't even hear your targets using his 5000 and 14 elite coil.

    GB,

yes have found that out already, a mate in winter I was dectecting with on a patch had 5000 and couldn't believe the depths I was getting!

    Best of luck

    Hi all

son went out the other day down here in Victoria (Aussie) land

    In a well detected area.

he was using his gpz7000 with the 19 inch coil, general gold mode and difficult ground mode

he said it was a wirey sort of sound, thought it need to be investigated.

with his pick he scrapped off a layer of dirt, then he said it sounded better..

after digging down 24 inches this is what he was rewarded with.

    Nice peace congrats ?

Probably the one quote, we all know but is always relevant.

    "Tis where Tis."

and an Irish one that holds a lot of truth but is funny.

"Never leave a shaft til you`ve dug another foot."

That would be 1deg F, bloody cold, have never experienced, is 36deg C or close enough to 100 deg F here in NQ OZ house at 6.30PM

Still 32 at the moment and raining in CQ , unreal ?

Now that the feline is out of the sack I'll give you all 2 cents worth of review and opinion of the 19"GPZ coil.

Evidence indicates that when VA Paul left Australia last year he snuck out all of the Australian nuclear secrets, their plans to hack the 2020 American elections, the formula for Fosters beer and a 19'' GPZ coil. He made me use the coil first to see if Minelab assassins where following us to recover their coil.

In the short time I used the coil, this is what I learned.

All indications are that it will detect deeper. Your pick must be further away and it is more prone to pick up incidental metal such as zipper tabs. 30% deeper is only 10% less silly than claiming 40% even if Ml. does add an *.

It does run smoother. You can use somewhat "hotter" settings than the 14" but it will still give a good sounding signal on bits of hot ground.

There may be a bit more sensitivity to EMI.

You need to slow your swing down significantly and keep it parallel to the ground. This also makes it easier to stop your swing and reverse direction.

It will false when bumped on something solid but not enough to be a concern.

Pin pointing is a pain in the a-- (arm). I have become immune ti this pain from my having spent a year with the 7000. Did you notice the little tray on VA Pauls coil. DON'T LAUGH! It actually works for tiny finds.

In Pauls' posted photos, only one of the nuggets might not have been found with the 14" coil. However the area has been covered many times with a stock GPZ. but I have not spent enough time with the new coil to make a definitive statement like "more gold" or "deeper Gold" But I believe those statements will come.

It is just plain HEAVY. Unless you are built funny, have no common sense or your just plain not to bright (yup, that's me) get your self some kind of suspension system. no gold is worth screwing up an arm or a shoulder.

In conclusion I will say that the 19" coil is not magic. if you are not finding gold with a stock 7000 the bigger coil probably won"t help. They are, to me, unreasonably expensive and the history of Minelab dropping the price of the 7000 so soon after it's introduction still doesn't set well with a lot of early buyers so I probably won't tie up winter time beer money on a coil I can' use until next spring.

    Klunker,

Nice to see us ozzies have still got secrets , now do I get a 19 or do I slow down with more conservative settings with my 14 , Hot ground all nuggets over 10 grams were at 14 to 16" ! Undecided ?

Well, I would love to say that it was me who was the first to score gold with my new coil.... But alas.....

Klunker bloodied it with with 3 nuggets totaling about 5dwt.

They were roughly 14" deep...or 355.56mm for you Aussie friends:tongue:

He had no problem using the coil without a bungee or hipstick.....but I haven't figured out how he does that!

    Good job Klunker!
