  1. I budgeted for a new Detector this year and was waiting to see what the Garrett Storm might be all about. With $500 off and a 15% Veteran discount I jumped on a new Manticore today. I then got to wondering if Minelab has made a "pre-emptive" strike against Garrett and the upcoming Storm with offering the Manticore at such a great price. Time will tell I guess. In the meantime I now have one Detector for each day of the week 🙂 Sure glad the wife enjoys detecting as much as I do.
  2. I like that at the start of the show he warned folks to ask for permission on private property.
  3. Some of you may have noticed that the Cpt hasn't posted recently. He underwent surgery Tuesday for the removal of a brain tumor and is now in recovery which might take some time. He's a great Detectorist and a wizard on operating his D2. Each time we detect together he always finds twice the stuff that I do. He's also the Newsletter Editor and member of our local detecting club, The Pikes Peak Adventure League, here in Colorado Springs. Keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks.
  4. Like many on the Forum I'm very interested but even after it gets to the U.S. I'll wait at least six months to see how it's performing here. In the meantime my Nox with a 6" coil does ok on gold here in Colorado.
  5. Thanks for the ID, I see it's worth a whopping $9.98 🙂 Instead of Rubys the stones are Red Rhinestones. Guess I'll put it in my Bling Ring collection.
  6. Found this today at a local park and wondering who might have worn it? No Hallmark(s) but the Ruby's appear to be real. With the crosses on it my best guess is some sort of Rosary Ring but that's just a guess on my part. Any ideas out there? Thanks.
  7. It looks like "veins" is mis-spelled on the map as "vains", that would be a clue to me that it's suspect.
  8. I was using coin fast and factory settings on the Orx. Rang up as 40 on the screen. I only got one mosquito bite going thru the "swamp" 🙂
  9. I'm planning on my yearly trip to the Florida Treasure Coast in November and in the past have been using my Orx and Nox. This year I'd like to try something different in the way of a PI so I'm considering buying the ATX or Axiom. Curious to know if others have used either one between Melbourne and Fort Pierce. I'm thinking the ATX would be more robust to the elements. Thanks.
  10. My wife and I signed up several months ago. Booked an Airbnb also.
  11. I've been procrastinating renewing my yearly membership with The Ring Finders but finally got around to doing so yesterday for the yearly $65.00 fee. Several hours later a woman calls and asked for my help to locate her car keys she had just lost in the snow. I almost said no as it was dark and 11 degrees F but she asked if I could come down in the morning and give it a try. Got to her apartment early the next morning and it was still pretty cold (14F) and I thought this is not going to be fun. She explained that she lost the keys while brushing snow off her car and had a good idea that it was near the rear door. On a hunch, I turned on my Garrett Pinpointer instead of my Nox and stuck it in the snow and the first signal I got turned out to be her keys. Happy Days!! Even though I told her there was no charge (that's usually my policy), she insisted on giving me a check for $60.00. Just about paid for my renewal fee. Attached is a photo of me and the happy lady.
