  1. Does the Minelab Pro-Find 35 pinpointer count? Bought it to complement the Gold Monster I bought last year to speed up target recovery. Overall does a great job but tends to flip out at max power and keep beeping away until lowering the power or restarting it.
  2. MTB Rider, good to know there's another Yukoner on this forum. I'm also in Whitehorse.
  3. JW, yes those are .303 casings. And you are probably right about the Yale piece being a lock.
  4. JW, I like how the jacket bloomed. Found it in a gravel bar. In the same river I found that Yale ignition switch. The spoon was found in the Yukon river just as it starts running alongside Whitehorse. Spoon is probably from 30's to 40's. The manufacturers stamp is still legible.
  5. Still no Yukon gold. But I like finding lead and copper too. Not Aluminum, unless it is campfire beer can aluminum lol
  6. Thanks :) Loved the Q&A throughout the video. Best part was when he fired the guys and hired women. There is some proof that females are better machinery operators because they are less Rammy.
  7. Johndoe, I'm panning to prospect. The setup works well for my survey of the claim. Production is sluiced. Then yes, finer classification most definitely helps with recovery from the cons.
  8. I am classifiying my material through a roughly 1/4" classifier, however I'm panning glaciated ground with alot of persistant heavies. My technique is down pat, but a good pan with less aggressive riffles makes it fast. The turbo pan however is a gimic. Thankfully it was free. Now it's a depository for black sands sitting on the shelf.
  9. I like the Estwing pan, but I am as much trying to pan very fine gold dust. https://www.estwing.com/products/plastic-gold-pans Garret's gravity trap riffles clog up on me. Very interested in trying Minelabs pan. Good colour, curious to how well their riffles will work.
  10. Thanks to those who keyed me in to using CLR for removong rust from rocks/specimens. This rock wasn't found with my detector. Got it quite a few years ago from the Mactung tungstein exploration camp on the Yukon/North West Territories border near the portal. It's heft made me interested and thankfully the chief geo at site let me keep it. Years it sat in my collection, but once I got my GM1000 I tested the more interesting rocks in my collection. This rock detected constantly in the non ferrous and strong. It sure cleaned up well, and the blue dotted pic is the Scheelite fluoresceing under short wave UV light (Calcium Tungstate, CaWO4) Cheers! Bryce
  11. The Mavic Pro looks good. Not in my budget though. Impressive for sure!
  12. Norvic, that Boeing drone would be sweet to mount a LIDAR under it, and build ultra detailed relief map of prospective ground. Google maps images of my area of interest just aren't good enough to identify paleo channels.
  13. Fantastic setup! That would be a blast to use in the Yukon... too bad dredging is discouraged here.
  14. The Nazis ruined what was considered a symbol for good luck and success. Thankfully luck at the end of the day wasn't on their side. This was a Canadian hockey club from around 1905. Windsor Ontario. Now let's get back to seeing the Gold :)
  15. Hoping next year to get up there more often and take the Gold Monster up and down it's stacks that aren't claimed or claimed by Parks Canada, or where I can get permission. The dredges up here kicked out to the stacker everything above 3/4".
  16. Dress for success ;) Insulated Carharts and a Canada Goose Parka, oh and Baffin -100 Drillers boots. But the boots have steel toes and yeah...
  17. Winter has arrived already in the Yukon. I tried the other day detecting some now exposed gravel bars on the Yukon river running through Whitehorse but the surface has already frozen up. All that was recoverable was a Canadian quarter and a five of diamonds fishing lure sitting on the surface lol Auminesweeper, the Snow Mantra is great eh! I've worked down to -45'c in mine, love it. But too hot above -15 for me. Was working for an airline in Yellowknife and we got an insane discount. Paid $150 off a paycheck back in 2000. Still a working jacket, it's built tough.
  18. AMDS stickers! When I bought my Keene A52 there, there weren't any stickers on hand. Instead I did get a free 100 year anniversary Evinrude hat. Steve, were you the salesman? Lol Maybe small reflective stickers too, for hardhats and tool boxes?
  19. Bob(AK), works a helluvalot easier than taking a picture through the Geological Survey's microscope lol
