  1. Ditto's here Wayfarer. It's honest appraisals such as this which will help Minelab hone in on future updates and improvements in the design. Even then, you are correct..... no machine at this price level is likely to do Everything that the high price machines do....better than they do. However, that does not detract from the fact that the Nox is a stunning , breakthrough, machine in this price range, and many owners will be encouraged in the hobby by the Nox's ability to bring interesting finds out of the kind of locations that beginners, as well as seasoned detectorists, would be spending their time. Let's all continue to add to the library of knowledge on the Nox, and with this type of honest input, it can only get better and better.
  2. Thanks for the excellent report. It continues to give those of us who are still waiting, another reason to stay positive in a situation where some are giving up. I know the wait sucks, I have tried every way to get my hands on one. The fact remains, the Nox is worth waiting for.
  3. Part of the fun is in the learning. What a great platform to base the next several years of hunting adventures on!
  4. On Ebay, you can find stereo to mono adapter plugs. I have been in bands all my life, and have a home music studio. I have many such plugs.
  5. Steve; The story of the Nox just keeps getting better! As a 40 year+ detectorist, I had a strong feeling that the things that were being said about this machine were ground breaking. I just had to order one right away. All the hours and hours out there enjoying the hobby, but knowing at the same time that you're only "seeing" a small portion of what's really down there. As a serious detectorist you couldn't help but dream about a future breakthrough that would change the game. I believe that day is here, and I'm so glad to be a part of it. It is going to be so much fun being out there with my sons, with a machine that gives new life to "old" spots. I'm truly looking forward to this year, and I thank you for this forum, and Minelab for my former detectors - Explorer, then e-track, plus Excalibur ...... and now the Equinox!
  6. This will be fun to experiment with in those really trashy parks and home sites where iron abounds! Just one more useful tool.
  7. After years of observing the various forums, I can say with confidence that, thru the years, you have stood with honor and fairness. This is the place one could always come for real answers, and never felt put down by the " experts". We will all try to uphold what you have worked so hard to build.......
  8. Great poll, Steve. The results so far are really interesting.
  9. Clever post, Ridge Runner! I've had to give my empty case sedatives at night! Can't stand the whining....
  10. This is a response I gave on another forum , in response to the frustration that some are showing, even to the point of giving up on the NOX; I can understand the frustration, and as a long time Minelab loyalist, I feel your pain. I guess I'm just not there yet. I'm trying to look at it like this; Minelab is endeavoring to come out with a brand new technology, and at the same time, try to implement the suggestions of their field testers, to make it the best it can be. Surely, they've run into some things which have cost them unexpected time..... Yes, Detectival was most likely unveiling the technology a bit too early in the process, but can you imagine the buzz that they must be experiencing internally when they see just how much better this technology is! Of course they were eager to show all of us just how big a change was coming. Perhaps a little too eager.... I for one will forgive the company which has brought me all of my best finds, THROUGH their previous technological advances. Who else could have brought us BBS, FBS, and now Multi-IQ? And how different would recent detecting history be without them.
  11. To be honest, being from the midwest, I had no idea you could even get that small of a nugget to register on the detector, Wow!
