  1. Yes, the plug/connector is defective. The headphone have 0% volume at maximum setting when plugged into the Equinox. When Plugged into WM08 they only produce 5 to 10% volume. I do not recommend these headphones and regret ordering them. I will wait and get a pair from Minelab.
  2. I received a pair of these headphones and they are indeed defective. The problem is with the connector. The seller send me a photo on how to repair them, but it seems Mickey Mouse to me. I'm sending them back.
  3. Well, I've read this thread and my Equinox shaft is still solid. I must be immune to the power of suggestion. Strange, I just noticed one of the legs of the chair I'm sitting on is wobbly.
  4. I really appreciate the gesture, but there is no need to worry about postage or material costs for the cards. It's nice doing something for others, that's payment enough.
  5. Post the Aussie numbers and currency names, and I will edit the US template and post the PDF on this thread. I can easily edit the template for other currencies as well. If someone can provide Civil War common relic target Ids, I will make a PDF for those too.
  6. Thanks, but that's really not nessesary, I've found where my wife hides the stamps.
  7. I use plain water to clean coins. A 10x Nikon loupe for identification if coins are in really worn condition.
  8. I still have some laminated cards if anyone is interested. If you want to print your own, the PDF is below. idcardfinal.pdf
  9. I'm guessing the Equinox is calibrated to quarter sized coins, in neutral soil by what it says in the manual. The arrows on the Equinox scale = 2" (approximately) for each arrow. I started counting the arrows on the depth gauge as 1" for targets falling in the penny/dime ID range. This seems to be effective so far, and more accurate in my highly mineralized soil. I'm still very new to this machine and learning everyday.
  10. I checked my wife's 2 diamond platinum rings. 1 was a 10, and the other a 12, in air testing. She wouldn't let me bury them.
  11. Yes. I kind of went overboard today and made a bunch of these cards, so it might be a while before I run out.
  12. Now they are 2 sided. VID on the front, with settings on the back.
  13. I've only had my 800 for about a week, so I made some simple ID cards using Steve's graphic, to get familiar with the machine. I have extras, and with Steve's permission, I'm offering 1 to the first 50 interested. These are simple, pocket size, laminated cards, with large bold font. Target IDs on the front, detector settings menu on the back. Edit 2/19/19 by Steve Herschbach. The offer to mail you one of these free is long past. Just download the pdf, print, and laminate your own. idcardfinal.pdf
  14. In my limited use, no. 39-40 has been iron each time; probably wrap around. I haven't had a solid 38 yet, but when I do, I hope it's silver.
  15. California vehicle registration has gone up for 2018. Mine is $304 now, it was $240. The gas tax was increased in November too. It's supposed to fund deferred roadway maintenance. Our roads sure need it. Idaho is a beautiful place, fine people. I spent most of my childhood summers near McCall. Floated 120 miles of the Salmon River a few years back. Miss it... Scott Sea level, raining sideways.
  16. The reason I would use carbon fiber is simply for aesthetics, not weight.
  17. It's great to know the folding device is sturdy over time. Thanks for posting this! The carbon fiber/Kevlar tube at Rockwest would make a pretty cool looking detector shaft.
  18. I agree with both statements, except I would replace Californian with person. I like having gear labeled with removable patches, it makes it easy to identify what's in what bag. The labels can transfer to different bags when I switch gear out, so bags can be used for different items. I just peel them off if I'm carrying them around in public. California vehicle registration fees are getting ridiculous. I just don't feel like giving them any more... I guess I will just have to hope my next random number plate is, DEEP800.
  19. I have to agree with Norm. I originally ordered an 800 on November 5th. I ended up cancelling that order after getting a response from that online retailer that was curt and unsatisfactory. I ordered an 800 again March 2, from a Northern California mining supply company, H&B Mining Supply. My 800 is being delivered today! I'm happy I made the switch. I'm getting more personalized customer service, and that's important to me. I know where I will be making any future detecting and mining supply purchases. Thanks Tim and Sam!
  20. Sounds like you have one heck of a scoop on the way to your house Steven. You're right, they are really great people to work with and they make top quality products. Shipping is fast too! If tiny items do become troublesome, you can always zip-tie a small piece of hardware cloth to the bottom of the scoop.
  21. The scoops I use all have 3/8 to 1/2 inch holes. The Xtreme scoop has a finer filter area at the bottom to catch tiny items like stud earrings that may slip through the larger holes on my other scoops. If the scoop you're looking at has a similar design it should work great.
  22. The F-Pulse is more stable and sensitive than the Carrot or TRX. The F-Pulse is most sensitive at the tip, and can be detuned to zero in on targets. The F-Pulse can be used at the beach or in areas of high mineralization where non-pulse pinpointers are unusable. The F-Pulse has a bright adjustable LED. The Carrot and TRX are great pinpointers, the F-Pulse is better.
