  1. Same thing happend to mine. I got clumsy and did it to myself. I was down in Quartszite at the time. So I had Bill Southern order me a new one so I could get back at it. Also my control housing survived the beating. Microsniper, let us know what Minelabs response is. Thanks
  2. Steve H, what are your thoughts on the NOCO GB150 now that you've had it for awhile? Did you use it to charge any detectors and/or cell phones? Thanks.
  3. Found it. There are several different styles. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Dickies+Work+Gear+57080
  4. Flak, try this method of pinpointing with the Equinox. It's a DD coil, so should work the same. I've been using this method for years, much quicker recovery. Thanks for the report on the 800.
  5. Click on the big green "M". On the next screen in the upper left you will see the big green "M" again. There should be an icon showing on the lower left of the "M". Click on that and you will be able to upload your picture. Let us know if you are still having problems.
  6. Not by me, unfortunately. Nice back story as well. Check it out. http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=254966
  7. I know your asking about VLF machines. But you might look into the Whites TDI SL. It's less expensive, lighter than an ATX, has a lot of different coils that work with it. Plus it's a PI which will punch deeper in most cases.
  8. Thanks for the heads up Jim, been wondering. Plus thanks for all your support over the years. Here's hoping everything works out.
  9. Tom, nice closeups. Try a black background, that should make the nuggets pop even more.
  10. Call the folks at "metaldetector.com". Ask for Bill Ladd, he has helped me twice with Makro problems. One being the Gold Racer. He/They get problems corrected pretty quickly. It's possible they will be familiar with your problem and get it corrected even faster. They are the USA distributor for Makro and the repair center for the USA. Good luck.
  11. Great video. Very well done. Thanks for sharing your trip.
  12. I'm also having problems with my Gold Racer. It tested out fine at home when I first received it. Got out the first time this week to the gold fields in N. California. Ground balanced, then immediately started chattering. This is in the All Metal mode. Held the coil steady at waist height. Still chattering and displaying ID numbers as if I was moving the coil over trashy ground. Tried the 5" coil, same thing. Tried all shorts of on screen adjustments including all the different frequency levels. No change. Got my Racer 2 out, it worked fine in All Metal, so not the environment. Did this at several different sites miles apart, including back at home. Will be calling Detector Electronics first thing tomorrow. I know they will get it corrected, just disappointing results after making a long trip. I also wish I would have kept the GB2 as a backup. But as seldom as I can get out, it made more sense to sell it. Wrong again.
  13. Detector Electronics only supports the Makro detectors. Kellyco is the support for Nokta. You will need to call Kellyco to see how they want to proceed.
  14. Get the Hermit Pick from the source: http://bunksarizonaprospecting.com/Pick.html
  15. Here is a solution to that problem. Haven't tried them personally, but should at least help with the glare. http://www.amazon.com/Anti-glare-Matte-Finishing-Screen-Protector/dp/B00A4LGHKM
  16. The gold display is at US Bank just off main street about halfway through town. Well worth seeing. https://www.cardcow.com/202226/gold-display-us-national-bank-oregon-baker-branch/
  17. Try turning it off and back on while still at the hot dirt. Ground balance again, then try it. Might also want to try a factory reset, page 21 of the owners manual: Factory Reset All changes made to the ATX settings are saved when the unit is switched OFF. To return all settings back to Factory values, press and hold the RETUNE/ PINPOINT button while switching unit ON. ATX FACTORY/DEFAULT SETTINGS Mode: Motion Discrimination: Zero discrimination (1st LED) Sensitivity: 10 Threshold: 7 Volume: 10 Ground Balance: Neutral Ground Track: OFF
  18. LipCa, I'm assuming the Gold Racer was set to All Metal. Which coil did you have on it? That's pretty impressive depth. Thanks for posting.
  19. That's pretty funny Alex. I thought I cleaned all the garbage off that claim. Guess not. Actually I probably got tired of digging the garbage ( was using an ATX) and moved on to another form of prospecting down on the river. Maybe we will cross paths over there one of these times. Good luck and keep at it.
  20. Paul. With the elliptical coils you rarely need to pinpoint. Once you get a signal, while sweeping the coil from side to side over the target, slowly pull the coil back until the signal disappears, your target will be right off the tip of the coil. I prefer pulling the coil back towards me, but it also works moving the coil forward, once the signal disappears, the target will be just off the back end of the coil. Toss a coin down and give it a try. Looks like the Gold Racer really locks onto coins with a solid signal. I've still got two feet of snow on the ground, plus its frozen. So I haven't had a chance to take my Gold Racer for spin yet. Maybe in April. Thanks for posting the videos.
  21. Hang in there. Don't give up yet. Nokta will make it right. I've seen them do it many times. They are truly taking care of their end users. I had coil problems with my Makro Racer. Their US repair center sent me a new coil. Everything is working great now.
  22. Wow!! 56 khz. This one could be interesting. Could you provide more info on the specifications. Thanks.
  23. I've been keeping an eye out for this one as well. Looking forward to seeing what the testers have to say. I know it's just another VLF, but knowing Makro, I'm hoping it's a cut above the others in some way. Thanks for confirming the late 2015 delivery.
