  1. I thought I was having EMI issues with my 800 as well. I wasn't getting chatter, but when I used pinpoint, occasionally the sound would just stick after I ran it over the target. I could hold the detector up, walk somewhere else, but no matter what I did, the tone would stay solid until I cleared it. Like I said it didn't happen that often, but enough to be irritating. I called Minelab customer service and a nice lady said, "no no no... that is not right send it in". She sent me a prepaid label, I sent it in and it was back within five days. I'm taking it out today to make sure it's fixed... we'll see!
  2. Ok.... This may sound weird to some, but whenever I used to use my old scoop in the sand and surf, I end up trying to balance my detector up against my hip or in front of me so I have both hands free to lift or hold the handle as to look around in the scoop basket. Is there any type of leash that would go around my waist and hook to the arm piece of my detector so I could just let it hang free without it slipping off of me and falling into the drink? I have a new long handle scoop coming in the mail so I thought I would ask.
  3. Thanks for all of the advice. I actually ended up ordering the Stealth 920iX from Chuck, with an Anderson one piece carbon fiber handle from Pete through John at Xtreme Scoops. (A super nice and helpful guy by the way). It was a bit of a back and forth, but I went with the 1/2" holes over the smaller slots along the back and bottom. I guess faster sifting and I could use it in dry sand if I wander out of the water. I dunno... It was kind of a toss up. I guess if something gets through the 1/2" hole I'll chase it around, but hopefully that won't be often.
  4. Well, I'm finally upgrading from my piddly short handled hand scoop to something much better. I'm getting ready to purchase a Stealth 720i, but there is a scoop option I need help with. In the past, the holes have been 1/2", but now you can have the option of 1/4" holes in the bottom and the back. It seems like with that much 1/4" coverage wet sand would have a tendency to sit there and not want to sift out or at least take longer. (I'm sure the small holes are there for good reason earring charms etc.) Does anyone have experience with 1/4" holes in this or other scoops. Is 1/4" a good thing or go with their standard 1/2" holes. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  5. Same here. The bag from KCo will be here tomorrow. The 800 by Friday!
  6. Good to know Steve and thanks. By the way, I just got lucky and had a nice gentleman give me a tip on a possible 800. Turned out to be right. They had one and it's on it's way. I feel very fortunate compared to what some of the good folks on here are going through to find one.
  7. I just talked with a nice lady at ML customer service. I had read where some folks were saying that the Equinox was a throw away machine after the battery went south. I just didn't think that sounded right so I called. Yes, the battery is definitely replaceable by ML. She said if you open it up for any reason and water gets in there, the warranty is voided. So, here is the question I should have asked... "If you don't want us in there replacing the battery ourselves, then will you even give us the option to buy one?." I'm just guessing that may be the case.? From the video, it doesn't look that difficult.
