  1. I feel sorry for the poor guy who couldn't get his backup machine out of your truck after wandering around for 4 hours digging deep targets with his 7000. 😳 Always keep your backup accessible. Was a fun trip, and one day one of those deep targets will be a nice chunk.
  2. Imlay to where everyone camps in 17 is 12 miles, maybe 12 to 4 corners, can't remember.. The black rock is less than an hour from Imlay if you have decent tires and aren't afraid to do 60 miles an hour on a decent dirt road. The road through lovelock is the very very long long way for anyone not coming from California. Best to avoid the area from about the 15th of august till the 8 or 10th of September or you will get stuck behind a 68 vw vanagon doing 25mph and stealing anything they can burn or keep while camping. Nice people generally, I just get tired of them climbing trees to tear down 15 year old eagle nests to burn.
  3. I sold my GM1000 within a few weeks of using the equinox, sold my 20 year old GB2 a couple months later. My only complaint on the nox is the auto ground balance is too slow, even if it doesn't cause much noise if your sweep is smooth.
  4. I always have a 1k watt genny, battery charger, and an extension cord with me even if more than two vehicles are with me. There has been a time or two both vehicle's have let the batteries get too low and a portable battery pack just doesn't have the guts to get a diesel going when it's cold out. I'm more worried about things like in the picture. I was fortunate to have another truck there, but I would have been just fine riding 50 miles into town and back on a four wheeler for parts in early January in N. Nevada with highs around 30° . Be prepared if you are a ways out and be able to save yourself, help may or may not come in time.
  5. I'd love to take a 7000 to a couple places in those pictures. If you or Steve ever plan a trip back to Moore Creek, sign me up.
  6. Sens at 12-13, not too hot (haven't really seen a need to run hotter after testing targets), threshold at 24-25 very unstable compared to a PI machine but not as unstable as I run a GB2. I wear headphones 100% of the time.
  7. I sure would like to be the first person to run over Moore Creek with a 7000, I think it would be wide open again. I'm surprised I haven't run into you in Nevada yet Steve, it will happen one day I'm sure. I'll be down near Winnemucca this weekend for a late Thanksgiving with a friend, might even get a little hunting in.
  8. Have fun up here Chris, there are a lot of elk in that area.
  9. The more I run this machine like a gold bug 2 the better it performs, ignore 99.9% of the noise it makes just as I do with a GB2 and listen for the 2 sounds it makes over metalic targets. I may dig a bit more ground noise than some but it has paid off so far.
  10. My machine started doing this after the update as well. About 30% of the time switching between normal and difficult ground the audio will quit. It does not matter if I plug the headphones into the machine itself or the WM12 module. A powercycle has corrected it each time so far. Haven't been too worried about it since it needs to go back for the backlight anyway.
  11. The backlight on my screen has been dead for 3 months. I have not sent it back yet because October thru mid December are my prime hunting months, and if I hold it just right I can make out enough of the screen to make any changes I might feel like making. I'm interested to see how long it takes Chris. We need to meet up sometime in the next month or so for a hunt before the first good snow storm ruins it.
  12. I'd like to see a 20" by 18" coil. The smallest coil I have used on any of my other SD/GP machines has been the 11" mono. I don't mind the weight, I've never had a problem swinging a solid 25" nuggetfinder all day. Ground coverage and depth are my only concerns, there is not much to get in the way where I hunt.
