  1. Nice trip out with the Nox. I was down for 6 weeks last summer after surgery for BPH. About went crazy but well worth it as I can P*ss like a race horse again. LOL Tom
  2. Thanks, Since I'm water hunting for the summer I took the cap off and placed it in the headphone bag for safe keeping.
  3. Awesome Seated! Looks like a good site you have there. Go out and get some more!
  4. Ya never know until you get it tested. Some are allergic to yellow gold and Platinum being pricey it's entirely possible someone had it set in silver. At any rate, Nice Find! Good luck
  5. Mike Funny you should ask that, on the drive home it occurred to me also that the last two rings were marked 417 and 583 whereas historically for me at least, that is quite rare. Today's is also only one of a very few recently lost rings I have found that are 10K but I'll take it!
  6. Swinging along in the shallows this morning I eventually came across a coin spill. While the first scoop brought up a dime a couple other coins came to the surface along with what I at first thought was a twist off aluminum cap. Once in the scoop i realized it was a ring with a nickel stuck perfectly inside it giving the appearance of a cap. 4.6 grams marked 417. While I don't remember the TID with the nickel by itself it comes in 18-19 on the 800. The 14k 8.9 gram ring I got the other day read in the 20 to 22 range. the 35 cents in coin and a ring made for a nice "spill"
  7. Nice! The Walking Liberty Half Dollar is a rare find anymore. ?
  8. Aside from being waterproof one of the reasons its on my gotta have it list is the availability of the 7" round concentric coil which is IMO a perfect general use size.
  9. Have a great time and don't worry too much about us hooligans wrecking the forum in your absence. ?
  10. I would probably, actually have been thinking about it quite a bit, get this as a backup to the 800. 14Khz with gen and deep modes for my fresh water hunting. The "bar" I have been hunting has recently had the sand move big time. As you can see from my posts on the jewelry forum, mens bands are my big game target and I need something that will punch deep on them, again 14 Khz may just hit the sweet spot for low mineral quartz sand bottoms.
  11. Mark ya gotta get wet to get the gold back here in the East.
  12. There are still a lot of ways to return em. On one I called the postmaster of the town shown on the ring and although the family had moved he had their forwarding address. So I sent the ring to him with the promise he would send it on and some time later got a nice hand made thank you card from the girl. But you are right personal info is harder to get out of any source now. I have to tell this one as it is how it :"used to be". Took me a couple years to find the school web site "Notre Dame Preparatory school". Went to the alumni page and the girls email address was actually listed on the site. It was her college email address and after a couple of exchanges the ring was on the way. If it's a local school I usually just go there and get with someone in charge with the promise it will be given back. Never have had a problem after explaining how it came to be found as swimming in the lakes around here is the big summer time activity and rings get lost so easily. Tom
  13. for finding the class ring but this mornings hunt produced this ticket in the first 1/2 hour. 8.9 grams marked au585 ?
  14. That's a monster chunk of gold! Congrats to your Dad.
  15. Steve thanks for posting the info, I am a confused however on the length, is it 24" or 31"? At any rate you have given me the push to get one for wading so I can use my favorites phones.
  16. My first class ring of the year. I contacted a Nephew that happens to teach at the school and we will get it returned to one happy (and lucky) young lady.
  17. Large deep nuggets excepted does anyone in the US really need anything other than an 800? 7K for a Zed and nearly 4k for the SDC. It seems the Nox finds the bits just as well and for peanuts in comparison.
  18. Sorry to hear that I'm sure ML will take care of it in their usual quick fashion. I hope it doesn't become a regular issue (fingers crossed)
  19. They are so ubiquitous that when I saw that white gold ring in my scoop Friday, I thought crap not another one.
  20. I hit the water early again this morning to see what the weekend crowd might have left. Targets were sparse with 2 bling earrings and the nemesis of water hunters in a Tungsten ring. At 17.7 grams I can understand why it flew off the wearers finger, would have made a nice chunk'O gold. ? I have started to pass up the new bottle caps. Have not dug a one that didn't bounce erratically reading Iron/15-21 or there about. T
  21. for some water time. Hunting the main area of activity was a skunk so, before heading in I hit the fringes for my second gold of the year. 10.9 grams and has the same makers mark as the ring I recovered 2 days ago.
  22. Nice recoveries all! Have returned many a class ring but only a few in person. This post reminds me I have one to do and will get on it now. News at 11. Update: Well that was a quick one! I found it on the second pass across the front of the beach in thigh deep water. The ring was lost a few years ago by the son-in-law of the property owners. We sent him a text with pics and sat down on the porch for a cold one. ? 14K white gold 9.8 grams TID 15
  23. are starting to heat up. I spent a couple hours at the sand bar this morning and managed a couple pieces. Nothing to brag about as the stones in the ring are CZ's. The hoop earring is silver plated. There were 3 other hunters out and their finds were meager as well with only one gold ring being reported at this spot so far. The wire mesh I had welded in the scoop worked a dream. The earring back in the pic is just one of many tiny bits it captured saving a lot of time. ? The nut The heartbreak It really felt good to get out and get started on this years "crop"! ?
  24. Fast charge capability is a major selling point on other devices (ie: phones). Since ML does not mention it in the specs for the Equinox I believe it's a valid assumption to make.
  25. The Equinox is not fast charge capable. As to whether it is safe to use this charger, I do not know if these fast chargers are backwards compatible with other devices. My recommendation is therefore to stay away. Anker, Ravpower and others rated at 2.4 A and 5V are the way to go.
