bado1
I did a search on this site but couldn't find the answer. I see from Minelab's "coil chart" that the Commander coils are interchangeable between the different series of P.I. detectors SD/GP/GPX (if I am understanding the chart correctly). Does this only apply to the Commander coils? Will a nugget finder coil that is in use now on a GP3500 be compatible with a GPX 5000 as well? Thanks. bado1
O.K., I finally found the answer. http://www.detectorprospector.com/forum/topic/884-sd-gp-gpx-coils-interchangability/ Just had to search using the right question! The answer BTW is yes they are. Thanks.
fredmason
just to clarify...all coils made for a Minelab Pi are interchangable...however, each Pi had coils that were made for it. The commander coils are no doubt the best for 3500 to 5000's. Also, any coil made for a Minelab Pi can be used with a TDI...you just have to find the correct settings. fred
nvchris
Also the GPX 5000 is a bit finicky (impedance) when it comes to running older aftermarket coils. If you're buying a used coil (GPX5000's), be sure you can test first or return it.
Steve Herschbach
I agree Chris, I found that older coils I used to really like on my older Minelab PI models were unstable by comparison when run on my GPX. They still worked, but got a bit noisier.
