My First Gold Ring!

Recommended Posts

I was beginning to think I would never find a gold ring.
I have been coin and nugget hunting off and on since the early 90s
with some pretty big gaps in between.
2015 was the first year I got real serious about detecting and
actually looking for rings while out coin hunting.
It came unexpectedly. My CTX conductive numbers were all over but holding tight to
the FE 12 line so I thought maybe I had a war nickel under the coil.
First thing out of the hole was an old scouts button.
After rechecking the hole with my probe I find this ring about 3" further down.

The only mark on it is a K with a star next to it. Acid test 14k or better.
I'm thinking its early 1900s. Most coins I pull from that depth in this park are that era.
Any help on the markings would be appreciated.

Congratulations on that first gold ring.

I've seen a page of jewelry marks some place.

Let me try to get it.

I looked up the one I was thinking about and it is for silver and you have gold so try this:

I lost one like that years ago, right near some dirt, k is my initial, I was on a boy scout outing, if you found that in an area with a lot of dirt, that might be mine.

That is a very nice looking ring!

Your first gold ring find was a real hum dinger of a find.  Broken rings like that give lousy signals and are usually dug by accident.

Congrats.  I bet it will start you off to finding another one.

Hi Cabin Fever

I just wrote a story about a detector on the MX posting. The place this all happen I have found over that seventy gold, silver and junk rings  Then I could walk and hunt this place without trouble but now they have a fence around it. This place is in a park and now they have stop all detecting. I never seen another detecting and I never left a hole uncovered. Who knows what's the thinking of the powers that be but that's way life is.

Let the next gold ring come soon for you. They're out there you've got to spend the time looking.
