I went through this website & I liked it a lot, especially the forums, I can see some honest reviews.

i was looking for someone from Qatar if they do metal detecting here, but I cannot find even a single person who knows anything about MD either in forum or person...it is mostly desert sand here & some beaches I was wondering which detector I should get I am struggling between mine lab xterra 705, Gold bug pro... I guess I will order the 705 I am inclined towards it a bit, any opinions will it be too complicated for a newbie I have watched lots of videos & read lots of info on the Internet from last one month.

Please share some pics when you get your detector and are out exploring. It's always interesting to see different terrain and finds from different areas!

Hi Reno yes I already spoke to the Depar guys but I saw some better deals on eBay hence opted for it, besides Depar were not so keen in shipping it to Qatar.

hi Johnny you're right on the hot part my strategy will be detecting either early morning or evening ? It's hot in the morning too but sometimes it's windy so that's a relief.

sure will share the pics of my finding hopefully I get some good ones.

my other concern is I hope the detector doesn't get stuck in customs I have already spoke to one agent he said as per the Hs code it won't but let's see

In the middle east and Africa many fake detectors are sold. Chinese copies look exactly like the real thing, - except they don't work. I know a guy who spoke with Depar and found a better deal and saved $500 on a GPX 4500. The other dealer promised that he also was a factory dealer just like Depar. His detector looked exactly like the real thing - I saw it - except it would not detect even large pieces of metal touching on the coil. His money, which was all his savings, was lost, and his detector was worthless. Be very careful about who you purchase from, so you do not get caught the same way, trying to save a small amount and getting nothing back for your purchase.  Hiding within Ebay can be a den of thieves waiting to take your money.

The 705 with the 18.75 kHz coil is a fantastic gold machine. In Alaska last month one fellow left his GPZ home and took a 705. He found nuggets of all sizes including a 1.8 ounce solid gold nugget. At one-tenth the cost of a GPZ and less than three pounds you can swing it all day ..... and all night in Alaska. The extra $160 for true full-metal mode, automatic GB and a back light is worth it. You can not go wrong with a 705. If I were to get a fourth machine I would probably get a 705.
