So, for strictly nugget hunting which one would you say is the better choice, the Garrett Infinium LS  or the Minelab SD2100V2  with Doc's Gold Screamer power pack?

If the 2100 can still be repaired by Minelab, that is my choice. Lots of coils will work on the 2100.

From what i understand they No Longer offer service on them. But then, i don't know if Garrett does on the Infinium either. And thanks for the reply.

I have bought very many used detectors and getting them serviced has not been an issue for me. If they worked when I bought them they kept working, so I think the risk buying a used SD 2100 is minimal as long as it is functional when purchased. Still, whether a machine can be serviced is important and you have to decide for yourself in that regard if you want to run the risk.

Putiing the service issue aside I would personally always choose an SD2100 over an Infinium unless I needed the detector to be waterproof.

Thank you for your input Steve, it is always appreciated. I have an Infinium now as was trying to decide if i wanted to sell it to get the SD 2100.
