Randy Lunn
"In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value. If there were, the government would have to make its holding illegal, as was done in the case of gold. . . . The financial policy of the welfare state requires that there be no way for the owners of wealth to protect themselves. This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth." --Alan Greenspan, 1966
whitebutler
After prospecting with many different people I've come to one saying and I personally love it. "Shut up and dig!". John
GB_Amateur
Of the various things I've attempted in my life, Rudyard Kiplings poem 'If' has applied to every one of them. My favorite line in that poem (of which every line is powerful): If you can meet with triumph and disaster, and treat those two imposters just the same
Popular Post Sourdough Scott
I too, love the poems of Robert W. Service . The summer nights, at my grandfather's claim on West Nelson creek. He would recite the poems from memory by the glowing warmth of the campfire . The flickering fire, the creek flowing, were the only other sounds to be heard, as he spoke. Those were some wonderful memories that I hold dear.
klunker
Sourdough Scott had found a treasure and I'll bet he didn't know it until it was gone.
mn90403
You caused me to find a quote: Truth, like gold, is to be obtained not by its growth, but by washing away from it all that is not gold. Leo Tolstoy A metal detector attempts to find gold by ignoring all that is not gold. That ... like finding truth is very hard to do.
Jim Hemmingway
My quote of the day is commonplace and simple. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." Jim.
