Question is the GP 3500 Stock 11in Coil a DD or Mono

I have 2 Minelab GP 3500 detectors that both came with 11 stock coils. However it does not indicate anywhere on the coils if they are DD or Mono.

Does anyone know if all GP 3500 stock coils were DD, or did they ship some with Mono coils. I suppose I could put one on and fire up the detector and test it, but I'm worried that I could damage the machine running a mono coil in DD mode, another question I would like to know the answer to.

So any Minelab experts out there?

You won't damage your 3500 by having the coil selection switch in the wrong position. You might damage it by turning it on without a coil connected. There are a lot of success stories with the 3500.

Best of luck to ya.

You can test the coil by putting the machine in cancel...a dd will still work...a mono coil will not...then use a black marker and label it.

You can run mono coils in dd mode with no worries...

If you put a dd in mono mode it will be a very sensitive half-coil---sort of.
