Hi Steve very good advice. For me the new Minelab GM 1000 with 2 coil sizes as standard is the pick of the bunch, the Auto Sensitivity and Auto GB take that unit to a whole new level especially in variable ground.

Steve- As always, a well-thought out guide to the various options out there, based on the "small gold" criteria.  As you mentioned, with the new detectors on the very near horizon, maybe the best bet is to wait a couple of months until the new detectors hit the streets, and actual field reviews so better head-to-head comparisons can be made.

Thanks, Greg

Both of my boys and I have the GB 2's and have no problem working up 20 to 25 feet apart.

How close do you need to get?  Get too close and they are finding my nuggets....grin

Sounds like a GB2 would be a good replacement for his GB2.

I have the Gold Bug Pro also(and the ATX).

I suspect that the person that tried the Pro and did not like it really did not learn it.

All detectors/coils have their place... some the same places.

And I don't think you will have to put a plastic bag over the control box of GM 1000 if it's raining.
