Gold Monster Can Dance

Recommended Posts

Californiagold, great write up on the Gold Monster....sounds very promising. Can't agree with you more on the Detech coil....good to hear the 18 " Mono is a good coil. Another Detech you should try is the 15x10 E Mono. It will BLOW you away ! By far found me more gold than any other coils I have had or have. Good luck in the gold fields form another Cali-Hunter....

Popping this in here because it's not really worth a new topic and it's gold monster related.

Going to try and do a KiwiJW type thread

Had a couple of spare hours a week ago and went to an old mine site.  Records say that 1000 ounces came from 1500 tonnes of ore.  It's 5 minutes from home and on the usual route that I take the pup for a run.

This is one of the places that I wanted to take the GM because it has lots and lots of trash and after several digs there with the GPZ I just gave up.  It was all trash amongst big quartz piles.  But surely some it must have some gold??

So in the hour or so there I found these two bits that sounded off as non-ferrous.

Note on both of them that they have quartz, then a layer of mineralised 'stuff' and then a layer of grey stuff - very technical write-up this

I also found 2 pieces of what I think is graphite.  It also sounded off as non-ferrous but I was really dubious that it had gold in it.  Here is the smaller piece.  It sort of marks like charcoal or (funnily enough) a pencil.

Smashed up the bits and pieces individually so I knew what came from what.

The graphite (if that's what it is) had no gold at all.  No surprises there but geez it made a lot of noise on the GM on the non-ferrous side.

On the quartz pieces it was at the grey end that they were both sounding off so I initially wondered if it was just the grey stuff that was mineralised, maybe it was graphite, maybe it was something else...but no, it was gold

I have previously mentioned that the Z could find fly shite - well the GM can find fart particles

I have no idea how the GM sounded off on this stuff as it is SMALL!!  And it was in the rock - nothing visible at all prior to breaking bits up.

So my 4 legged dog that I always take detecting with me is called Lace.  I think the 1 legged 'dog' shall be called Lassie.  It is 50/50 so far about which one is more useful :laugh:

A bit of fun for the afternoon anyway.
