After skipping a year the ICMJ Gold Prospecting & Mining Summit is back bigger and better than ever in 2014. Featuring 80 booths with the latest in mining and prospecting equipment & expert instruction from the writers and staff. Yours truly, Steve Herschbach, will be giving a seminar on metal detecting for gold on April 6th.

Dates: Saturday & Sunday, April 5-6, 2014
Venue: El Dorado County Fairgrounds 100 Placerville Dr Placerville, CA 95667
Admission: $5 at the door per day; children under 12 are free with a paid adult. Food and drinks will be available for purchase inside.
Parking: The Fairgrounds Association charges $5 per vehicle per day
Show Hours: Saturday 10am - 5pm Sunday 10am - 4pm

The magazine was founded in 1931 as the California Mining Journal. To better reflect a broader reach this was changed to International California Mining Journal in 1994. Finally, in 2002 it became ICMJ's Prospecting & Mining Journal.

You can tell who some of the old-timers are by what they call it. I still tend to say California Mining Journal when bringing it up in conversation.
