And two bottles of 1900 whisky together going 3.5 times that much.  I wonder if a 19th C. prospector/miner would have traded 1/6 tr.oz of gold for a bottle of whiskey (and good Welsh spirits, not rotgut)....  Doesn't sound too crazy for some of the boomtown/camps.

All gold nuggets are not the same. There is lots of low quality stuff that you are lucky if you get smelt price for it. Seeking out higher quality, rarer gold can mean less ounces but more cash in the end.

Wow, I was expecting a crazy crystalline piece or something. Not what I would expect that nugget to sell for! People do like gold from unusual locations but that is wild!
