It Better Be Good

My wife has asked me countless times if I bought a new detector and I keep saying no. I thought I would tell her when I know they released the Equinox. Well I informed her on Jan 31st that I bought a new Equinox but I forgot to tell her I also bought a CTX 3030. My marriage of 52 years may survive the Equinox but when she finds out I bit the bullet and bought a CTX 3030 Judge Judy here we come. I may have to start a Go Fund Me account to cover the divorce proceedings. 

I did tell her I was going to sell my V3i and that kind of made it ok buying the Equinox but trying to convince her I really need the CTX 3030 is going to be like her telling me she needs another pair of shoes to go with the 150 pair of shoes she already has. 

Buying different detectors for me is the challenge of learning new detectors with the latest technology. .

If I disappear from this site it's probably because of death by Minelab syndrome.  

I texted my $35 per week online therapist and she told me I did the right thing buying the Equinox. She said there is no better therapy than metal detecting with an Equinox for a man facing certain divorce court.

When you get one of your detectors you need to exit the house with it and loudly announce that you are going hunting.  Then drive straight to the nearest pawn shop and buy the most reasonably priced, yet gaudy, diamond ring they have.  Bring it back with you a couple of hours later and say you "found it", then present it to her.  No need to say you "found it" in a pawn shop, that's just TMI.  Some dirt or sand between the stones would be a nice touch.  Oh, and be sure and get rid of any "evidence" like a pawn shop receipt.  Problem solved, and she'll be pushing you out the door as long as you bring back some bling occasionally.

YW, and that'll be $30.  Cheaper than a therapist or a divorce lawyer.

My advice to guys and gals like us to get other hobbies that pay for themselves. I have used welding, woodturning, and  chainsaw slabbing to pay for detectors. I paid for the EQ with money made from ginseng. Don't get me wrong my wife still wants to comment but theres not much she can say when I hand her a stack of $. She almost passed out when I handed her $2800 and told her I ordered a new fishing kayak. Too funny.

Great advice.  I do kind of the same thing... I flip things within my hobbies and keep those funds completely separate from the family budget...  If I want a new toy, it comes out of my hobby funds and doesn’t affect the family budget.. That way you don’t get an upset spouse...  Makes it less stressful for myself too.. I don’t feel guilty buying new toys.

We used to order our new surfboards in the same colors so our wives didn’t know we just got another one.

Honestly though, I don’t think I actually ever fooled my wife cause she could still count.

My wife of 34 years approves my detecting even though she doesnt like doing it herself.

I happily hand over half of what I find to her and she buys whatever she likes with her half of the loot.

My half goes towards a new detector or adding to my coin collection.

I recently sold off some gold finds that brought a tidy sum and handed her a big wad of cash notes....she couldnt be happier

Y'all be careful with that "hobby income".  My hobby turned into a full-time job and now it's just plain old "income".

That’s even better!  Now you HAVE to buy a toy.  You have to be familiar with what your selling and have stock.

My Equinox has my wife's name on it.  It is light and is better than the SE Pro it replaces for her?  Well, we hope it does but she is going to let me use it when she is not with me!

If I find lots of new goodies with it she'll make me stay at home and she will go on her own.
