Popular Post Dan(NM)
Stopped at a park yesterday because I saw they had removed some grass from an area. First target within 3 minutes was a 56 rosie, the only coin in the spot. I went to the zoo today where they had dug up an old dead tree, only target within 5 minutes was a ugly old Merc. I was running Park 1, 2-tone, tone break set at 23, recovery 7 and iron bias 1 It was great to swing faster than I ever could with the CTX, I had to cover ground fast because my time on both days was very limited. Both dimes were hitting at 26-27 and were very shallow.

SittingElf
1956... Year of the Monkey. Also the year I made my presence known to all! LOL! Still chasing my first silver with the Nox. Lots of clad, copper, and wheaties though.
TripleT
All you guys make me jealous. We're still waiting for spring to appear. A foot of snow on most parks and fields. I tried detecting on a south facing hill the other day but found hard ground 2" down. And my first pull tab!
steveg
Outstanding, Dan!! Gotta love two silvers, in two (very) short hunts!! Looking at that Merc you dug makes me wonder...every once in awhile, I dig a silver coin that looks just like that. That's not the usual "tarnish" which can be removed (ONCE you are sure your coin has no value beyond melt value) with a paste of baking soda and water. That thicker, gray crud is EXTREMELY hard to remove, and usually I can't get it all off no matter what I do. I don't know what that is, or what causes it...and I have only dug a handful of silver coins that look like that. Anyone here who knows/remembers enough of their chemistry education to chime in?
