I am interested to see how it works out in the field---

a 5.5 " screen Note 4 is just too squirrely out there for me..

Hi Paul, I know this thread is old, but was curious if you were able to download the xchange software to the tablet and how does it work?

Brian.

Hi all, have been watching this thread but as Steve has said things are a bit busy. I will say though this type of discussion really makes my day job hard to bear.

Maps believe it or not are my weak point, I'm a "shoot from the hip" type of guy so put me within a mineralised belt and I'll let my legs do the rest. However what Goldhound is hinting at is pretty much what my long time team members have been doing for years with an added twist, we use stream sediment data and soil sampling data in combination with geological maps etc. Obviously Geochem is only useful in areas where extensive historical sampling has been conducted so not so useful in Tiger country in the wilds of North QLD.

The key is to find or highlight a possible target zone and to then get access to the area and then do the leg work along the strike, in the case of the Northern parts of Australia the streams and drainage's are your best friend and are usually your first port of call.

Oh to be 20 years younger and 30 pounds lighter. The GPZ is made for this type green-fields of prospecting, not the weight but the tech. I can't complain though because I've found more than my fair share and had many adventures along the way.

I cant wait----72 days......

I hope to lose the 50 pounds i haven't yet...

I imagine that between Norvic and the Goldhounds i will lose a few-- after a bit of walking during the upcoming trip...

I don't mind walking, i enjoy it, ----but I have to stop and get some air every now and then...

Not like beatup and his brother ...-- they are gazelles...

Hi norvic, guys

I have used gis software to make and modify geo maps and make or use specialist images that we use in the field for many years.

You are correct I have a rugged tablet with internal gps receiver on my bike and I carry this everywhere with me when prospecting.

I will probably never use the zed's gps as I carry the tablet around any way and could not be bothered having to transfer info from it to my tablet.

For me my information's safety is a major concern as well and I read the privacy policy of the ml software and google and will not use them for any of my valuable work.

I have been offered big dollars for my gps and notbook info off a few mining company's so I am very careful with my info.

Exactly how I have done it for years too mate.  Good GIS software is a must have in my opinion.  I have Android and  Apple tablets, but prefer the Apple.

I can overlay tenements, aeromagnetics, soil samples, drill results, histoic mine production records, basically anything onto it, bloody great!

Its amazing some of the trends we have worked out also after accurately plotting finds and adding them to this info ?

Crikey since I`ve started this thread here and on other 4ms, Trent King you are the 4th person to indicate they use such in conjunction with MDs. The GPS-mapping combination is so much more then just a safety tool, not just for the Company exploration fellows but MD users in general, even without getting into GIS.  Just makes time swinging a detector so much more productive.

It does seem to be very under utilized.  I have done several posts about how to set it up over the years but rarely see anyone else using it out here.

For those interested in mapping here is a link to a tutorial I wrote 5 years ago that covers the basics.  Most of the info is still current.

No worries Paul, is all in the droid in the pocket, all we have to do is swing the Z. Behind the scene stuff is done whilst I combat US cabin fever, or here in OZ...... mango fever.

Trent King many thanks for the link and your input.
