New Minelab Gold Monster 1000

Recommended Posts

Entry level for the Minelab product lineup of gold detectors. Do not take that to mean as how it compares to the competition. It is like saying the GPX 4500 is Minelab's entry level PI prospecting machine.

Here is the Minelab gold prospecting detector lineup in 2016 and 2017, not counting the X-Terra 705 which is more a multi-purpose detector:

Not sure about Eureka Gold price cuts. They did that already some months ago. The Eureka is a very capable prospecting machine. The Gold Bug 2 has the edge on tiny gold, but the Eureka handles bad ground better and punches deeper on gram and larger type gold. The Eureka however has mainly been hampered by a old heavy design and high price. Even at discount it would be hard to find one new for less than the Gold Monster will retail for at regular price.

At this point, it is impossible to determine what that chart means.  The minimal explanation is that they are saying choosing 45 kHz is somehow the best compromise - enthusiasts might be tempted to interpret it as indicating that the frequency shifts over a wide range (in response to lord knows what).

I should have added this bit to the earlier graph post ( quoted from an Andy Sabisch post on Findmall

"Ok, maybe not the typical Minelab name for a product but it offers exceptional performance on a wide range of target sizes . . . from sub-grain to whoppers. While it is designated as a single frequency VLF operating at 45 khz, the Minelab engineers have designed a new way to spread that out so that you are able to detect targets of all sizes. Other detectors are hot for small pieces or large pieces based on their frequency forcing one to choose what they are looking to find or buy multiple units to cover all bases. The following graph shows what the engineers worked to accomplish:"
