On power-up, the micro calibrates the RX circuit and sets up the threshold levels. It's the calibration that causes the delay, and to help speed this up a "starting point" is saved in memory from a "factory calibration." This is done at Sens=2 but is still pretty close for the other 2 levels. It's very possible that Sens=1 can be faster, but it also might only be randomly true. That is, YMMV.

Some DIY cheapo protection tip:

This has been done with 1" heat shrink tubing (no glue inside).

I'll try 30mm next time, didn't have it in house.

With tip coated, the f-pulse loses sensitivity (lvl 3 sens) to micro jewelry and less than a gram of gold.

How did you coat the tip?  With Sinclair's heat shrink tubing or one of the goops?  For a given gain setting only two things will affect the sensitivity:  metal and distance.  One nice thing about the heat shrink is that it is thin enough not to affect distance much.  The goop/plastic-dip methods are more variable and thus if put on thick will increase the closest distance, potentially significantly.

I haven’t coated my pin pointer yet, looks like a great idea to keep it from falsing over time and hard use. If you can get your hands on a small gold earring post, Test it’s size and composition to pin pointer to see how if it senses before and after tip being covered.

with my unscientific testing, I can tell you my f-pulse has a hard time sensing smaller sized jewelry such as earrings.

Works great so far - it found what the equinox found

Only had a problem once or twice with very small bits of aluminium foil.

Anyone else thinks the holster is too stiff?
