Fisher F75 LTD For A Beginner - Too Much Machine?

Recommended Posts

Darn, and here I thought I'm going to get rich! But there is always plan B: Buying lottery tickets and help out in my cousin's snake-oil dealership.

BTW.: The F19 is on it's way. Can't wait. Next step: join the Calgary Metal detecting club and learn, learn, learn... Anybody on here from Calgary?

I really wish you would have gotten the new F75. They are much tamer than the one introduced in 07. I had that one new, and have owned every make, and model F75, along with minelabs, and every detector manufacturer out there excluding XP. The new one with DST, and other features would have been a killer machine. The thing is when you buy a lower model machine, you’ll always wander “am I missing anything”? Or “ should I have just ponied you the extra cash, and got the latest, and greatest of their lineup”?

Hi Relicrecoveryspecialist1,

great to have you on this very friendly forum too. You will rarely experience any cross-talk or even negative stuff on this forum unless it concerns a detector or accessory problem.

Check the date before you reply. This thread's last entry was almost 5 years ago and the person who started it has not posted again since 2015.

You make a good point though.  The newer F75s and T2s with DST are definitely still plenty hot but are less susceptible to EMI. I can actually turn my F75 LTD DST on in my house and survive the experience!!!!!.  Personally, if I was recommending a VLF detector for someone new that wanted to mostly do gold prospecting for "normal" lower 48 USA smaller gold, I would pick the F19 every time over the F75LTD. No slight against the F75, but the F19 is just more likely to hit smaller gold and at least for me, is easier to operate in moderate to really high mineralization than the F75. I would agree that the F75 LTD DST is the pinnacle for Fisher as far as mid-range mid frequency VLFs with modern features that can do it all very well in most soil conditions. The F19 however, is not far behind even though it is a specialty detector and is just average for coin and jewelry. I definitely would not consider the F19 or the Tek G2+ to be "lower model" detectors.
