  2. Bought a few fishing reels a month before my summer holiday,... they arrived just in time for me to spool some line on in oktober and manage a few practise casts. By then I was studying every evening for my boating license. It goes how it goes. My dealer,... starting to sound like a junkie needing a fix, tells me I’m in his first shipment. But given my luck it will show up when the heavens are pouring down with rain, sleat and snow. Throw in a little frost for good measure why don’t you. Anyway got the boating license,... time to figure out how to get the boat :-) Pretty amazing this new Minelab has got the detecting community behaving like hardcore @pple Kids waiting inline for their next tech fix.

  3. Hi all, Merry Christmas! Here's a couple links over on Prospecting Australia where you can read some comments / feedback: https://www.prospectingaustralia.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?id=23766 https://www.prospectingaustralia.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?id=24170 Cheers, Nenad

  4. I decided that 26 probably wasn't going to be my lucky number. So I contacted another dealer and put down a big deposit on one. Number 6 sounds waaayyy better than number 26 and he says he's supposed to get more than that in the first shipment. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  5. There was a recent find of a 117 ounce gold nugget in the Mt Monger area, south-east of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia. Unfortunately so far I have only been able to find one very poor photo of it. What's up with that? The nugget is a bit different in that it is pretty long at 20" and narrow instead of a round lump. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/regional/goldfields/a/20549863/faith-of-colleen-on-loan-to-museum/ Anybody have more information on how it was found or a better photo? I did find a photo on Facebook purporting to be the same nugget but I do not think it is.

  6. $499 is the MAP price -- lots on Ebay. I'd be suspicious of $285 for a new one. Pretty sure these detectors were being copied/pirated in China -- the Gold Pack specifically. I count four used ones on Ebay that have sold for ~$275 (including shipping cost). Three of those were with 5"x10" DD 18.75 kHz coil, the other with the 7.5 kHz stock (coin) 9" concentric but the seller warns the coil is defective on this one.

  8. This morning i went to one of the beaches i go to with my Explorer XS. The weather was windy and wet last night and i thought "hoped" it would shift a bit of the beach off . But i was mostly unlucky .But i found an area of 200 ft by around 70 ft that was scuffed a bit so i got on with the job of hoovering up the coinage . I hoped for a Gold but no luck there , i did find an old Silver ring . I left after around 2 hours with the ring , £23.78 p in spendable coinage , 2 Euro's and for the Americans seeing this a US 5 Cent of 1993 . I might go again on Friday if the beach has a good pounding by the weather , but i doubt it will be .

  9. Well, I'm the 1st detectorist in the USA to receive a steelPhase audio enhancement system. Hopefully the weather holds enough to give it a whirl here soon. I'm not here to knock any other similar products out there. I'm just trying to make use of a new product and technology to help give me a improvement in beaten up flogged patches. Merry Christmas everyone! ???⛏️

  11. hi there I am new to this forum I have hunted gold where I live in Scotland for a few years with a metal detector .the type of ground in your pictures is not that much different to where I hunt the leadhills area . if the area where you hunt for nuggets was covered in ice in the last ice age gold can be transported vast distances where I hunt the old timers in the 16 th centuary got thousands of oz in the valley floors by washing the ground through sluice boxes . but they did not have the tec to hunt on the hill tops and the hard packed clay the ice left . the mountains before the ice age would be huge and the gold veins inside them would be pushed and rolled below the ice as they broke up .huge bits of quarts with gold inside would just be left on slopes and valley floors .then the quarts would erode away leaving the gold . in some places you would get a glacial lake or ice dam which left wave lines on the hillside due to wind action on the water . and with this action gold on the slopes worked its way down or got stuck in clay or bed rock . where a lot of people think there is good gold can sometimes have none . one patch I worked with my gpz 7000 and gpx 5000 I got five nuggets all about one to three grams I thought that was all that was there till I started to scrape two inch layers off then went over it with the gold monster and the place lit up one day I detected 30 bits only small . this gold was left in hard clay 200 feet up on the hill so when it is in the creek its on the hills as well

  20. If so, and record numbers of pre-orders for an Equinox and an announced release for next month by Minelab... why is the Equinox still so secret? They have sales locked up for months, the release next month... is everything still Hush, Hush because of waiting for patents? I would sure like to see the Equinox manual posted. It's like a gold rush to get this secret new technology that will obsolete every other single frequency machine! This release is Totally Amazing and would make for a great corporate movie! Only it should be spiced up a bit with drama, roadblocks, espionage, hot Australian business women, gold and crazed customers brooding on forums!

  21. Looking good IBD! After using the dredge, I agree the two pressure feed hoses are a pain. I'm planning on hard piping mine as well. What are the extra Cam-Locks for? Brian, using the Urethane to glue the fittings to the pump worked excellent! ooooooops

  22. Thanks Steve for all you info, I’ve been trying to soak up all the information on this site about the EQX 800 and the GM 1000. Almost took the leap with the 1000 but decided against it in favor of possibly the EQX800. Since I already have my Whites GMT I thought do I really need another VLF that will most likely just take up space in a closet. With the 800 it seems I would have one of the better multipurpose detectors on the market and with the higher frequency for gold a competitive gold machine also. I think it would complement my 5000 and SDC while providing a machine better suited for coin and jewelry also.

  23. Many factors, but for new product it is usually supply and demand. Also, you must realize we do have dealer contracts we sign. If we undercut the product pricing, then we could get canned. Also we are cutting our income. My job is a Full Time Metal Detecting Dealer that goes above and beyond the average. My staff and I write articles, do YouTube videos on education, work directly with engineering and do field testing of proto-types.. We offer 3 day Field Training, gives seminars etc. My only income is all through detector sales. Most folks on here has or did have a working job they earned a pay check. I just happen to enjoy my job more than most. Bottom line, will I offer a discount to a non military person? Repeat Customer Loyalty goes a long way with me. So does the referral program. Attached photo is of staff and I comparing different sizes of coils on undug targets.

  25. Looks like I can answer the favorite all purpose part now - Minelab Equinox. I started with White’s. Then I switched to being a Compass guy. Then I turned into a Fisher fan. Then back to White’s and then back again to Fisher. Then a brief side trip with Garrett. Then back to White’s before finally moving on to Minelab. I gave Nokta/Makro and XP a spin the last few years, and now with Equinox arriving I am pretty firmly in the Minelab camp at this time. I don’t know that they are the “best” manufacturer but they are in my opinion the one delivering real advancements to detector technology on a more regular basis than their competition as of late.

  27. Jin, I bought a 5000 in 2010 and used it on the beach for nearly two years. It found everything ... well ... not really ... I've got a story about a diamond on a very thin chain I found by accident. I heard another target and found the chain! Don't use a big coil. It will just see too many targets. You have enough timings on the 4500 to find a place for it to be quiet. If you have a beach with a substantial tide then hunt the wet sand on the low tide. There is no real reason to get the coil or the unit wet. One thing you can do to protect it is to put it in a plastic bag. You can still adjust it. You just have to get your headphone cord out of it. I think you will have fun digging everything. It is a good way to learn a beach. You want to know what trash to look for that holds the rings and jewelry. You'll learn the coin sounds. Dig, dig, dig ... it will go deeper than anyone else on the beach. You'll find some good things. Mitchel

  28. I ordered mine from Kellyco and they were very flexible when it came to what information was needed for the veterans discount. I can't say they'll allow the VA card or not, but it's worth a try and it would surprise me if they refused to except it, but who knows. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful... "D"
