  1. I was getting bored with digging stove lids, shovel heads and kerosene tins so I figured I would dig one more target and proceed to a different location. So I did.
  2. Hi all, Some post bush fire nugs from Gippsland, I went over an old patch just after the fires and before the beer virus lock down. The tree stumps were still smoking when I got these. The biggest is just over 1oz. It's amazing what can be missed with scrub all around.
  3. More gold found in the hot grounds in the golden triangle with x coil, ferrite balanced fine and made no more noise the the minelab coil!!!
  4. Patience in life is a virtue! But, even I was running low. Nice Spring days run into hot Summer day’s fast to be sitting around tinkering. Truck was all maintenance up before the lock down, RZR with new oil and filters, it was eager to roll. My detectors had a little dust on them, but batteries charged. I touched base with the Crew and 6 of us loaded up and stormed the desert of Northern Nevada. Heading to our camp spot, I noticed the desert was full of other Freedom Seekers mending their Soul for the need of the outdoors, a normal calling shared by all on this Forum. We set up camp and hit the nearest patch to Camp, with the skunk off our backs and with the setting Sun and cold breeze we headed back for some conversation, food and libations! 🥃. We strategized the following morning Gold Mission over the flickering flames 🔥 of our campfire. We decided to leave Gold to find more gold, not always the smartest move but, it was the first full day of the hunt. We hit the dirt roads to a spot I had in mind, leaving a dust trail seen for miles. Even the Antelope and Wild Horses wondered what the rush was about in the mornings cold temperatures. We finally arrived to a spot, I eyeballed years ago. We geared up and spread out amongst the hip high sage brush. 15 minutes or so, someone breaks on our Walkie Talkies, I got one as I seen a waving coil in the distance! The hunt was on, as our seasoned crew swung our coils to the first location of color. Another, call on the radio was from someone behind me and below in the dry wash scored a nugget! Well long story short, we all had a great time and I found the perfect rock to name the new patch “The X Patch”. The Crew slowly departed back to their Critical Jobs and the Weather changed on me, rain and wind I tossed the towel in. I did manage to flatten the curve of the lock down with 5 pounds lighter on the scale. Always, good to be back home, yet can’t wait to get out for the next hunt! LuckyLundy
  5. Spent another day out in isolation in Gold Basin, it was warm at sunup but thankfully never got unbearably hot. I picked up a few more meteorites including one so tiny I didn’t realize what it was until getting home and seeing it under high magnification there I could see a tiny and tinier nickel sphere fused together with a small bit of the brown matrix circling the seam where they joined. At the end of the day frustrated with no gold to show I went exploring for someplace new to hunt and just a few minutes before sunset hit a nice signal in a wash under the edge of a small bush and roughly 12” down out popped a bright yellow chunk weighing 2.7 grams to chase the skunk away.
  6. Hey Guys/Gals, A partner and I have been gold placering a wash for some time now in sections. Every once in a great while, we find a nice crevice like this one with our metal detectors. The old-timers couldn't get every crack or crevice, missing one here and there that might be rich in gold and gold nuggets. We were using the Minelab GPZ 7000 and Minelab GPX 5000 metal detectors. Hope you enjoy.
  7. Got out for a swing session finally. Took the 4500 and a 9x15 NF Advantage. Total 1.1 grams 1 heart shaped cornflake 2 rock"ettes" in the bottle by noon ! Thars a bigun waitn out there this season. Hapy Huntn.
  8. Hello Everyone, Hope everyone's Health is well with this virus still holding on out there. A friend and I have been doing a little bit of placering in a wash bottom for gold nuggets. We happen to hit a crack that had like 4 gold nuggets, biggest one was 6.0 Dwt's, just over 1/4 ounce. The other nuggets were about 1/2 to 1 Dwt each. We were using the Minelab GPZ 7000 and GPX 5000. The GPX 5000 is shown in the video with the Nugget Finder 14x9 EVO Elliptical Searchcoil. I shot a short video of us recovering the larger piece of gold. Video below -
  9. This is an open thread for any good/bad Australian picture of gold or video adventure! Post away mates. Mitchel

  13. I just got back home yesterday from wintering in Arizona and am now seemingly a prisoner in my own home due to the virus. I was able to go out detecting many times with only a few skunk days. The last day out, I found this specimen that is quite different from anything I had found before. Norm
  14. Hello everyone, I got out again today for a few hours of detecting. A friend Chris was with me and we were both using GB Pro's. We went to an old haunt that was very good years ago. Two other friends here on the forum should recognize the picture on the very bottom. Between the two of them they detected over a thousand pieces at this site. I hope you two are well. Chris found the first piece, about three grains, and it turned out to be a loner for him. I found a piece of ground that was either uncovered by the recent heavy rains or just missed. The biggest of the four pieces came in a 1.3 grains. The next three were 1.2 grains, 0.9 grains and 0.4 grains. That aspirin bottle of mine was pretty heavy in the pocket coming out today. Thanks, TRINITYAU/RAYMILLS
  15. Hi all, I have been reading this excellent forum for a couple of years and recently joined. I live in southern Victoria, Australia and have been detecting on and off for about 20 years and have had a little success but nothing to write home about, but I do enjoy the hobby. I currently own a GPZ7000. I think it is quite heavy but it is amazing the small pieces it can find. This photo is what I have found so far in 2020. I do quite a lot of trips away where I come home empty handed. The piece in the middle is 4.92 grams and the total weight here is 6.01 grams. All these pieces were found around Talbot in central Victoria. All the best. Rolls
  16. Made for another long 10hr day in the Arizona desert out my front door at 0430hrs and searching dirt at 0700. After about an hour picked up a little 1.7g meteorite high up on one of the ridges and after a another couple hours finally scored a little .2g piece of goodness in a tailings pile on my way back to the Jeep, I raked down the remainder of the pile but nothing else except tiny bits of rusted tin. Drank a cup of coffee and munched a little trail mix while driving a couple miles to a new spot and after a few hours walking up a small wash I spooked a large jack rabbit he darted out a couple feet and then stopped looking at me about 10 feet away so I started talking to him asking where I might have some better luck. He seemed to understand we were at peace together and relaxed standing up and stretching as he listened to my query flopping his long ears side to side he sat back down and peered up the wash in the direction I was heading as if to say just a little farther up. I poured a small pool of water from my bottle on the ground in case he might be thirsty in thanks and continued on my way, my rabbit friend calmly watched as I took his advise Walking slowly swinging zed. After about 10 min in the middle of the wash next to a small bush I picked up a mellow hi lo tone and scored a slightly bigger .7g piece. It was now nearly 1700hrs and worn out from my long day I decided to call it and headed home for a long night of leg cramps from over doing it, but with a little bit of yellow to show for my efforts well worth the pain.
  17. A couple of years ago I was prospecting an area in the southwestern Arizona desert and picking up a few small bits, mainly in drywash piles (dryblower heaps), when I received a decent, deep sounding signal from the detector in bench gravels above the present dry stream bed, which turned out to be a solid, dense 1/2 ounce beauty of a nugget. I searched the surrounding area thoroughly and turned up a few more small bits, but nothing more of any size. Recently, I decided to target the same area using a different detector mode that is designed to punch deep on dense, sluggy gold. Sure enough, in a spot that I had gone over multiple times before, I got a faint, repeatable signal that ended up being a lovely 2/3 ounce chunk of a nugget at nearly 2 feet (61 cm) deep. I’ll be giving this location another good going over with a large coil to see what other golden goodies may yet be lurking in the depths.
  18. Hey Guys, I had to social distance myself, so I decided on a trip back to the old placers. Like always, digging tons of iron rubbish, this time I must of dug a dozen iron pick tips. I'm sure they were using the tips to pry open crack and it would just snap off the tips. I was working with my Minelab GPZ 7000 all day, moving rocks and racking sections of bedrock off. I ended up with 6.2 Grams of the good stuff in 5 gold nuggets total. I didn't get a picture of all the nuggets or a final shot, but here are a few I took during the earlier hours. A few pieces wedged in the bedrock cracks. Wishing and praying for health and wellness for you all during these crazy Coronavirus times. Rob
  19. Got out for a couple hours yesterday morning. An old haunt that gives 1 up here an there. Some fresh erosion from the last couple rains gave up a 2/10ths grammer with the ML 4500 and 13x17 Evo at a few inches of depth. Check the O out in Evo ! Still swinging lookin fer that "retirement" nugget. Hapy Huntn.
  20. Just posted on Yourube- Not posting here because there is F-bombs🥵 at the end of the video...put the above title in search to find! BEAUTY" Happy 2020 Enjoy! Ig Steve H added....
  21. Need a big PI to find high $$ gold? New customer on 1st voyage with his little VLF Gold Monster 1000 just dug some incredible, amazing, beautiful & highly collectible gold/quartz specimens. Largest quarts chunk is 27 grams Au. 2nd flat one 9 grams & 3 more rough pieces. Paid for GM1000 1st time out. I want most folks to realize, this isn't normal results, but with a geology background, it sure helps you read terrain & decide best ground to swing. Thanks bunches MH for allowing me to share your success.
