It's a shame you didn't find it with your Minelab detector, it would win their find of the month competition easily.

On that note I see they've changed the Find of the Month competition, it used to be a 250 USD voucher and a bunch of accessories as a gift pack, now it's just $250 USD worth of accessories.  When I won I got both but they said it had changed to just the accessories package worth $250 but because they hadn't updated the website and with a bit of pressure they gave me both the voucher and the accessories package.

By submitting your story, you enter the Find of the Month competition where we give away a USD 250 voucher in Minelab products and assorted Minelab branded accessories to the winner.

Finding gold is easy if you are first on the spot, but finding the spot is hard and you spend a lot of time getting nothing. A great find, you will have to set your target high to beat it.  ?

I wouldn't worry about not getting anything from Minelab. I bet White's would hook you up with a nice gift if you wrote up a story about the find and sent it to them.

In my book you already won with that nugget!

I managed to get away a couple of weeks back for five days to chase some gold.
Headed north of Kalgoorlie Western Australia to a spot I've been to before but could only manage a couple of little ones and a specie that was on the surface. Oh and 22 cents!
Despite the good stuff being scarce it was great to get out bush.
The two nuggets come in at just over a gram, all found with a GPZ 7000.

I stumbled across this video on Youtube, I'm not sure if it's real, it seems unrealistic, far too much gold and huge bits....  The killer is the 90 gram.

The SS Central America had lots of coins and lots of treasure to say the least.  We has a presentation (with coins and gold nuggets) at a PCSC meeting in Downey, California last year.  The author said this book was coming.
I don't see much of a preview online but it may be a reference book that will show up in your local library!

Pretty much done for this year.  We've had snow twice already and it's hitting the teens at night.  Last season I got 106 bits for just under an ounce and this year I only detected 40 bits for just over an ounce so an improvement over my 1st season!  18 bits from Montana and 22 bits from Idaho.  FULL DISCLOSURE:  1 gram of the tiniest bits came from crack scratching/panning in the creek.  I had fun and met some locals from Helena area (BIG help) and that helped me stumble onto the two bigger pieces (25g/4.5g) that saved my season. As long as I can improve weight at the end of season over the last I've reached the main goal.
      good luck guys......
