Dealer Sale Detect-ed Premium [carbon Fiber Shafts] For The Minelab Equinox

Recommended Posts

An update on the journey and a look at the finished product!

Wow, it was about this time last year that I first got to thinking about designing a shaft upgrade for my Equinox! It was initially because I was detecting in and out of the water frequently, alternating between the two environments. Each time that I'd get in-or-out I would disassemble and remove the middle rod from my stock shaft (to make it short enough for water use) then hide it on the beach... jump in the water, and then re-assemble it when I wanted to detect normally again. Hence, our first priority was improving usability for both land and sea detecting.

We started out by making about 70 of the V1 design before we then got busy further investigating materials, parts and sampling Carbon Fiber. We made some great contacts and continued to further develop the design. I trialled and tweaked the no-wobble custom clamp system and we also made sure to focus on the little details that will give durability and longevity to our products!

Details like; tweaking the ideal low gloss finish (for better scratch resistance), sourcing materials and hardware that can handle corrosive, salty environments. We even focused on setting the rubber coil washers 0.5mm further out to increase friction on the rubber. This was to provide a solution to reduce coil-ear wear (and prevent the dreaded coil-ear snap) in turn minimising the torque needed on the coil bolt!

This journey started on ‘Detector Prospector’ so I want to say thanks to Steve Herschbach for hosting this awesome forum and to the supportive fellow detectorists who have read on, commented and made suggestions! There is no doubt Detect-Ed would be in a different position today if it weren’t for you all!

It’s been a long time coming but it’s my pleasure to share with you the finished product… There are many more plans for Detect-Ed’s future endeavours so please stay tuned!

If there’s any questions, of course feel free to comment or PM me.

Ed

Hey!

What's the difference between the Classic 3K Twill Black and the Red Belly Black? just the colour of the carbon fiber?

I like the idea of the water drain hole.  Your messages aren't working, incorrect email address.

Well that's enough to prevent me buying it, almost had a sale, I hope you're not just using the forum for free advertising and nothing more.

Hi mate, sorry about that, the email notifications are setup for my old email which doesn’t alert me, my partner happened to be on the computer just now which is why I’m here.

The difference for the user is purely aesthetic so the weight, dimensions and function are all the same for both models.  To have a polished (smooth and not bumpy carbon) finish the Red requires much greater care and time and the quality control must be higher also to ensure the product is 100% hence the price difference.

If in the future you need anything I’m very good with the email which is contactdetected@gmail.com but I’ll pay more attention to the notifications on from DP ?

Cheers, Ed

Thanks, It might be a good idea to update that email.  I'll take another look at your website and work out if i still want one, I initially wanted it because I had a very early model Nox with the shaft wobble, however when I didn't get a reply I contacted Minelab about it.  Minelab replaced it for me with a new shaft with far less hassle than expected.

Ill do my best to get back to anyone as quickly as possible, sorry I let this one slip through the crack.

      Hi all!

Premium-quality, carbon-fiber two-piece lower shafts are now available for Garrett's AT- and ACE-series detectors (as well as the GTI and GTAx), from Steve's Detector Rods.  The lower rod section is fully telescopic within the middle shaft, via one of my heavy-duty, clamp-type cam locks.  Similar to my Equinox shafts, the adjustment holes found on Garrett's stock "middle" shaft section (and the spring button pin on the lower rod) have been eliminated, which results in quick, easy insertion and adjustment of the lower rod, as well as unlimited options for adjustment length (as opposed to lengths being restricted by fixed button-hole locations).  The shafts also offer weight reduction -- with these being 20% lighter than the stock shaft (5 oz. vs. 6.1 oz.).  While these shafts have not uploaded to the website yet, special introductory pricing is as follows:
      $70 shipped -- black two-piece carbon-fiber lower shaft
      $80 shipped -- colored two-piece carbon-fiber lower shaft
The initial, trail batch of these shafts is now sold out (as of 2-4-20), but a large parts order has been placed, for a much larger production run.  If interested, please contact me (either via PM here on the forum, or via email at steve@stevesdetectorrods.com), as I'm currently compiling a wait list.
      THANKS!

      Steve

I just took this unit in trade from one of my own customers.  Yes I am the original dealer and this unit is not a China Fake.  Comes with all factory shipped accessories as well as the Super Deep 19" coil.  As a bonus, you can meet Lunk, my other Field Staff Experts and myself in the gold fields for 3 days training. Unit still has transferable Minelab Warranty and is pretty clean for a used gold detector.  All chargers, cables, detector and functions have been tested and operate 100% like new. $6500 takes all.   Most of you know, but some may not. I am Gerry's Metal Detectors out of Boise, Idaho.  My videos showing us using the GPZ-7000 and many other gold machines can be viewed at www.gerrysdetectors.com  Normal scuffs to detector as expected.  Nothing missing, nothing cracked, nothing wrong...just needs a good person who enjoys swinging and digging gold.
Lets make it happen.  Lunk has pulled over an ounce of gold in the last few weeks with his own 7000.  He'll be in AZ all winter so it's prime time to get real hands on knowledge from one of the best in the US.  Plus the added benefit of doing more training with my staff and I in Nevada, Oregon, Montana and or Idaho where we hunt gold.

      Hello All,
I just got in a very nice conditioned Minelab GPZ 7000 metal detector that was purchased from us.  Customer was unable to continue with this unit, so it was purchased back in a trade deal.  The unit includes all stock accessories and original packaging box.  The unit has a Doc's 3 Piece Control Box Cover that has always protected the wireless remote, control box bottom and LCD screen.  The customer also had a 19" Searchcoil that was never used.   The total purchase was $9500.00 nearly a year ago.  There still is a factory warranty included and some extras including the 3 piece cover, aftermarket carry bag, scoop and such.
Asking $6500.00 Shipped to you in the US only.
We will also include FREE Field Instructions here in Arizona for one day.  The instructions must be scheduled with us.  We will also add in lifetime support beyond the sale.
Send us a PM if you would like pictures or serial number.  Thanks!
