German Shepherds are most loyal and extremely smart.

I learned something new about you Doc.  I did not realize how seriously involved you were with them.  Glad to know you are a Shepherd fan too.

My favorite.  My two studs one was named Astor, and the other was Eiko.  They were both Schutzhund III's.

Wonderful loving dogs.  They both thought they were lap dogs.  Nothing like having a big lapful of German Shepherd.

I love Dachshunds.  Steve do they like to be covered up?  Every Dachshund I have ever known loves to be under the covers.

They absolutely love to burrow. My little girl Lilly most of all. I’ll make the bed up, and then she wants up so she can burrow in and create what we refer to as the “Lilly Lump” in the middle of the bed.

But some seem to be natural pack guards or watchers. Our largest, Fluffy, always positions herself between the rest of the pack and the door, usually on high ground (corner of bed or couch). She likes to be covered but not nearly as much as the others.

I do not know what the male dachshunds are like, as we have always had little girls, and they have all been among the sweetest, most lovable dogs I have had.

Beautiful dog.  I love the color.  Bright eyes, alert.  I love dogs.

We have two females as well.  One is a Yorkie, the other is a Silkie.  Great guard dogs, I mean they are too little to do anything but they are on high alert all of the time.  Never have to worry about anyone breaking in, they hear everything and bark.

The other thing is Yorkies and Silkies do not shed.

The breed warden comes and inspects the 8 puppies for any defects.  If any puppy has a defect they snap their neck and throw them in a gunny sack.  If after inspection all 8 puppies are fine they ask you which 6 you want to keep.  The other two are killed.  A female is only allowed to have 6 puppies as they believe that is all a female can adequately care for and give each one proper nourishment.

I could not go through that... I hate even thinking about it. I adopted a double dapple doxie, a color variation people are not supposed to breed for as it can lead to blindness or complete lack of eyes. The people who had this little puppy thought she might be blind and did not know what to do with her, so I said “I’ll take her.” Daffodils eyes were half normal size and one had a weird cornea, so who knows what she saw. But she could see. She was an amazing little dog. Lots of dogs bark but every once in awhile you get one that seems to be trying to talk. Daffy had the craziest “vocabulary” of sounds she would make. We had weird conversations where I’d make noises at her and she’d make noises back. I have no idea what we were talking about but she seemed to know. I sure loved that little girl, but she did have health issues that made her costly and led to an early demise. It broke my heart when she went. Still, not a regret in the world. What a true bundle of joy Daffodil was in the time she was given. My life would have been poorer without her.

Another one of our girls right now, Eleanor, is a rescue dog. Supposed to be temporary foster care.... yeah, you know how that works out!
