Deepest Target Yet With My 800

Recommended Posts

Looks like an Aztec calendar or maybe Mayan glyphs right? Pretty neat and good advice with the iron volume, thanks!

Then I got a deep signal that was negative 5-6 and I took off 6 inches and it turned positive.  I went down and down and could now fit the entire coil in the hole but it was still there.  I lost it a couple of times because I couldn't hear it without sticking the coil on edge into the bottom of the to hear it again.

Could you say what the target locked in at once you had it out?

Did you try to ID this in all metal before you dug?  And what were the results?

I am very interested if someone else had a target go from negative to positive after taking sand away?

I have not had this happen to me yet, but very curious  to see if others had issues? Also, if you had targets that changed were they of any worth?

Dave

I went back today where I found the 'B' and dug a test hole.  It did go negative/positive in the open hole as I swung over it.  I guess I had the hole at 15 inches and it went from negative 2 to positive.  It was kinda hard to make it sound digable as I had steep sides to the hole.  When I put the coil  on edge with the target it would register 15-16 and a bit higher.  Out of the hole on the sand the 'B' is a 26-27.  Who knows why it sounded better when I found it.

These were my finds of the day.  One ring is tungsten (11.6g) and the other stainless I think because it has no mark and is light (5.6g).  The two rings were about 10 feet apart.

The 3 one dollar coins were only about 8 feet apart in a much different part of the beach.  If I hadn't found the first one I probably would not have found the other two.

The nail is aluminum and that is part of a Disney pin.

Thanks. Just very curious to see if anyone else responds with targets that went from negative to positive. Also I always say "nothing is the same in black sand"  and moving salt water for that matter.

I've been seeing the same thing for a long time with gold, on the edge of detection EVERY nugget can read iron, tiny nuggets for me almost always come up in the iron range until you can get the coil closer to them.  I noticed yesterday that targets (coins) were going blank (no audio) a lot with the occasional blip in the positive range, pressing horse shoe and I had a nice lock onto -5 -6 with the occasional flick to 17, as I dig the hole suddenly the target ID locked onto a more positive 16/17 and the iron range ID's stopped.  For deep targets relative to size I never trust the target ID's.

Afternoon all!  I know that there have been many programs out there for the 800, but are there any well known programs for the 600?  Mainly coin and relic hunting!  I like the preset park and field modes but wanted to possibly branch out and try something different.  Thanks! HH.

MY UNIT IS FRIED!  Evidently the Equinox can not even be rinsed off in the shower after use. What a piece of JUNK.  Two months to go in Mexico and I have a boat anchor. 😡   Minelab engineers should all be fired.

The other day GB-Amateur said something that caught my interest about EMI problems with the 800.
So I could not help myself on trying to figure out why. I first rolled back to my original software 1.75 and went outside to look in my yard like i normally would.
Every time I had gotten within 50 feet of the power lines the unit would give false ID's of what was on the ground, and it just got worse from there.
I went further away from the lines and it would clear up until I got near the front of my home where my wifi router is located. When I looked at the display the display numbers were bouncing once again.
When I went to the back yard away from everything the 800 was as always working like it should and I even found a 1951 quarter.
I went back into the house to do the upgrade once again and retraced my steps with the new update.
I had no problems under the power lines no mater how close I got to them, I did find some really good targets that I will go back and dig up when it gets warmer.
I went to the front of my house and once again the 800 worked as it should without any interference at all. That is until I walked up to the front porch window and then I had a little bit of bouncing numbers.
I believe that the new update has solved most if not all of the EMI problems that I have had in the past, which is a good thing for me.
Under the power lines is where the used to tie up the horse carriages at the original church and that is where I have found some coins from the 1800's. Now with this new update I feel more confident that I will be able to find some really nice items there, and in my front yard.
Thanks for reading and tell me what you think about your update and EMI problems since the update.
