Hi From Central Florida

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I decided I wanted to get into the hobby of metal detecting so I recently went out and bought an Equinox 800 from my nearest local metal detecting dealer, was still an hour long drive lol, but it was worth it and the shop owner was very knowledgeable and helpful in helping me select a detector. So I'm about as fresh of a novice as it gets. I've been scouring the internet for tips and suggestions on the this hobby and have learned quite a bit. While searching I came across this forum and thought it would be a great idea to join and see what else I could learn from others in the hobby.

In the couple of weeks that I've had my detector I've been out a few times and have started getting used to the machine. I have also upgraded the shaft on the detector and have gotten myself a pinpointer as well. I've been using a small shovel that was in the shed and have also bought a sand scoop. As for finds, I have found mostly trash, some modern coins, a bent half dollar, a zippo lighter, and a couple bullets.

It's been a lot of fun so far and I'm glad I got into this hobby. Any advice is much appreciated and hopefully I can contribute to this forum too.

I have been on here gathering information for my nox 800. After seeing all the information, decided to join! I have my sister (unfortunately with all this loss) going on, I bought her the vanquish 540 pack. Trying to give her some freedom time. Needless to say we are a few hrs from Galveston. Hoping to go this Thursday and give her some hope in finding something. Great seeing everyone giving information and help on here. Thanks Steve for this forum!

      Hello everyone,
I'm from Java, Indonesia. I started my metal detecting journey since last year because I love history and gold. I own Garrett AT Max, Minelab Equinox 800 and waiting for the new Nokta Gold Kruzer.
      Cheers,

I started Metal Detecting about 20 yrs. ago and it didn't take long before I was hooked. My first detector was a Minelab Sovereign XS, and I soon became very interested in learning my areas local history to try and put my coil over ground where people of the 1800's and early 1900's were gathered together and possibly leaking coins. My career took me to different parts of the US and for a while I stopped detecting all together, but now that I'm retired with plenty of time on my hands I've decided to get back into Coin Hunting. I am amazed at the advances in Metal Detector technology over the years and have my work cut out for me studying and learning how to use and interpret what my new detectors are telling me. This is the main reason for my membership, to learn and acquire knowledge with respect to the advances of these new detectors. So I want to say Hello to everyone and thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Hello, I am new to the forum. I have a Minelab GPX 4500 that I've inherited from my uncle so I'm trying to learn everything about it. It is missing a few pieces so I'm trying to get it into operational order. It is currently missing the battery, the power cable and the charger, and only has one 18x12" Coiltek Goldstalker mono coil.
Any tips/tricks/and suggestion will be appreciated since I don't know anything about the machine. Thank you.
