White’s It’s Time To Pull The Rabbit Out Of The Hat

Recommended Posts

White’s you have maybe a month to three months to come out with a new detector line , That’s if you want to keep up with the Jones better known as Minelab and Makro .

Hope to see the lineup real soon. I know you don’t spend money on flashy videos and beautiful girls and that’s okay with me.

What I want to see is American made on the housing somewhere and White’s number one detector company again.

You make it I’ll buy it! ( I’ve been doing it since 1966 )

It would be nice to see this happen.  I would be "concerned" if they don't catch the bus soon.

We have some dealers that come on here .I know one is a great guy and have come in contact with him at treasure shows.

The sad thing is when we loss Tom Boykin that was with White’s . He was our window to the world of White’s I guess you could say.

I may be wrong but the only person from a detector company coming on the forum is Dilek from Makro.

There are signs that Whites is in trouble. For one, they've pulled back support of forums and rallies. It has been said that it's been more beneficial to concentrate on free social media platforms, and you do see them interacting on their Facebook page. Still, pulling back from all forums is a mistake and is either a sign of financial trouble or poor judgment. For another, you only have to look at the last several releases to get the sense that the same stubborn attitude toward integrating technology into their machines persists to this day. The lack of wireless, lithium ion, at home updates just for starters.

The lack of any specificity of what they have in store for the near future has been disheartening. This is a mistake all US manufacturers seem to be making at the moment. When you're notably lagging behind competitors and have a loyal base of users waiting for you to make a showing, you owe it to them to keep them in some kind of a loop. The excuse that they don't want to give too much away to the competition is thin and wearing thinner when release after release the competition is outstripping them anyway. In this industry, with the limitations imposed by physics, when you're talking about companies like Whites, FTP, etc., you're not going to be entertaining anything the leading guys are not also entertaining. You're not going to be working on anything the leading guys are not also working on.

To the extent that a product launch is imminent, throwing the user base a bone or two can be helpful and encouraging. Any anti-espionage benefit to radio silence is outweighed by the demoralization of users who are watching thier beloved companies get spanked time and again despite this curious strategy. It would be different if everything were kept under wraps and then out of nowhere comes this kick ass top of the line new flagship. That's not happening though. Users are left sitting in the dark, trying to be loyal, and watching others run away with all the advances while not being given the time of day by the company they love. It doesn't take a relationship specialist to tell you where this is headed. Users are going to cheat. I still love my V3i, and using it to this day, but I'm also seeing the Equinox on the side. Won't be long and I'll also be looking at a Pulsedive. A Mini-Horde could be in the cards for my kid as it seems to address a lot of the problems I see with kids machines. Either too heavy or no arm support and can't get wet.

What you said looks to be true but sad . I really hope you’re wrong .

That’s why I put the sad face on your post .

Well as much as a lot of people think the marketing Minelab do is really cheesy and hate the way they drip feed their new release information it works, and it works well, have you ever seen so much hype about a new beginners machine coming out? The Vanquish may as well of been a new flagship with all the attention it's had even by the most experienced detectorists that normally would never buy a beginners machine, yet some are considering buying one anyway.

If White's has something in the works, instead of being silent about it letting it's loyal customer base build up anger towards them for being stagnant for a long period perhaps they should start drip feeding information.... like dropping little fish food flakes into a fish tank.. start the frenzy.

I understand it's hard to come out with new VLF's now when the limitations of the technology are there but there are two areas they can work on.. modernisation and price.  Most Whites detectors still look like they're from the 80's.  The MX Sport could become a nice competitor to the Simplex, drop the price to compete, you can bet a lot of people would consider the MX Sport over the Simplex.  At today's pricing, would they?

I know from the computer industry a high end unit doesn't cost much more to produce than a low end unit, the more high end the unit is, the more markup there is. The entry level gear is generally sold at a much tighter margin but they sell a lot more of it.

Phrunt

I’ve got a saying I’ve used for years that may fit here .

Here it is  Spit in one hand and wish in the other to see what one will get full the fastest.

 Wishful thinking!

Chuck, if I remember correctly, you were going to send a letter to Whites, have you done that and have you received a response?

Brian.

Brain

I did but I don’t know if they got it . I didn’t get a response back as of yet . Anytime something I send does not make the trip I receive a notification it didn’t.

White’s sales may be going great but on here I don’t see it.

Like I said in the past when Tom left White’s we lost our window into what was going on with White’s.

I’ve wondered if maybe someone from White’s drops in to see what’s said but never respond to anything.

"The proper threshold on hot ground, any ground type for that matter, is a nice and high full sound, stable and rock solid threshold that cannot be wavered on that ground type.. Allowing the highest sensitivity they can muster.
Causing lovely repeatable dropouts in the threshold on deep signals on heavy ground."
      Hello All.
I have an old Minelab GT16000, and in the process of searching for Coils, came across a post(above) by "argyle" that suggested a completely different Threshold setup for some of the early VLF detectors including mine.
Just wondering if anyone has used this procedure, as it is different to the manufacturer's instruction?
      Cheers.

It has come to my attention when using my Apple iPad mini (with latest update btw) accessing manufacturer’s main site I cannot access support pages on site.  A work around for folks is to do a google search.  For example doing google search for Simplex+ manual one will see a good site that will get them to their destination for access to needed data.  It has been reported the same thing happens with use of android cell phone.  I have put a thread together elsewhere here in order to notify marketing rep Dilek of this issue.  http://www.dankowskidetectors.com/discussions/read.php?2,172246

I have located two gold mines that I have access to after much research.
one mine about 4 ft tall in the side of a hill and has a nice pile of quartz rock tailings pile. rocks are about 12" wide. Should I remove all of the larger quartz rocks to get  down to the smaller rocks before I hunt with my 800 using a six inch coil?
the other is in the side of a creek bank about 2 feet high. No sign of tailings pile, so I guess just hunt the creek with my Equinox 800 and 6" coil in front of the mine and down stream and on both sides of the creek in case they had their washer equipment set up at that location.
both sites are rather remote so should not be much trash in the area.
      thanks for any help.

(Update... im not taking the ctx3030 and instead I’m buying a equinox800 and practice with that and take it to the digstock event.
there has been some very good advice offered I  the comments... things that as a newbie I wouldn’t have considered.)

I’m recently retired and decided to start some new hobbies, metal detecting is one of them.
i bought a CTX3030 used at a great price from the president of the Ohio Detectorist association. It included the stock coil and a 17 inch. I’m still learning how to use it and so I basically dig every signal I get.
my question is this... I’m going to travel to Chazy NY for DigStock 2020 and will be hunting relics and coins... in open fields.
should I use the CTX3030 or should I also invest in a Garrett ATX and deepseeker for this event or should I take both?
      thoughts?

I saw one of these for sale for basically $200 + shipping. Is that a good deal? What's the typical resale price (Fair Market Value) for a machine like that?

      Thanks!
