Yes, a game changer indeed, but not in a winning sense IMO.

These days you can get some pretty cheap phones with hefty computing power.
Chase Goldman
The phone has plenty of processing power. The problem is everything else running on the phone at the same time and ensuring compatibility of the detecting software across a huge array of hardware and operating software configurations.
crow
From their facebook page: Quote Dear members and backers! We are finally launching the assembly of the first batch of the product. All parts and components are in stock and the first coils have been finished and tested. Also the final version of the Apple app has been filed with Apple Store and will be released as soon as they finish their evaluation and compliance process. Play Store app will follow shortly. While waiting for the production, our developers have managed to add even more functions to the device. We now have Fast Tones, Threshold Tone and a Hot Rocks mode for highly mineralized hot stones. We are also done with box design (see the graphics attached). One piece of bad news though. Due to us having to prioritize the printing of the plastics to one color first, we have full set of parts to assemble units in Air Force Gray since it was by far the most popular choice with our backers and customers. For those who ordered their AIR MD in Kickstarter Green we are happy to swap the color or ship as ordered when plastics are finally ready but this may take some time. Sorry for the inconvenience but financing the manufacturing of 2000 full sets of parts (1000 minimum order in each color) proved to be challenging with our limited ability to market the product due to all the Covid restrictions we are stuck with. We expect strong sales after the product finally lands in your hands and will order parts as soon as we have some revenue inflow. On the positive side we are proud to confidently claim that we have achieved wireless signal transmission speeds matching the fastest wired detectors our there with a Bluetooth coil. Hope you like it. More pictures and updates from production soon and thanks again for believing in us! Your AIR MD team.
Chase Goldman
...and almost 2 months later no deliveries have yet been documented or announced. Scratching my head to see such anticipation for what is likely going to be a mediocre deisgn from a performance standpoint. Form over substance. I wonder what the makeup of the people waiting in line for this is? Serious detector geeks have to know there is nothing special here from a performance standpoint and it is hard to believe casual detectorists or newbies would latch onto a crowdsourced startup vs. going to their local walmart for an impulse buy on a bounty hunter for 1/3 the cost. I just don't get it. That leaves those with a combination of a curiosity factor and 200 bucks buring a hole in their pockets. (That sounds right up my alley )
