I Want An 8" & 9" Concentric Coils Like This For The Simplex

Recommended Posts

I think you would like a coil like this on your Simplex Tom. Very thin. Sweeps thru the water incredible.

When it came to low profile could Tesoro was hard to beat, though the old White’s 950 was in the same class. For some reason nobody wants to make them thin these days.

As I have found with Bigfoot coils sometimes you have to get the detector that runs the coil you want. I was really thinking I could get Nokta/Makro to make a Cleansweep style DD coil at the least, but no go unfortunately.

I'd really like a Bigfoot coil, that's my kinda coil.  I imagine pinpointing would be quite easy too.

When people starting saying they want a big food coil. Nokta will make it. Look at the concentric coils they made for there other detectors.

I sent that picture of the Tesoro 8" concentric coil to Nokta/Makro. I hope they make one.

People have been saying it for over two years now Rick, including some rather in depth emails from me to NokMak over two years ago with details and specifications. So no, I’m not holding my breath there.

The actual BigFoot coil has to have been hand made so far so I understand that, but the Cleansweep DD anyone should be able to make no problem. Why NEL or anyone else refuses to take a stab at it does puzzle me. I would love to see a Nokta/Makro “Jewelry Sweeper Pro” which would basically be a Racer 2 with a Cleansweep as stock coil. We have all sorts of detectors but nobody yet has really marketed something specifically targeting dry land jewelry hunters. That market belongs still to the White’s DFX/V3i with Bigfoot or Tesoro Golden uMax with Cleansweep.

The reality is probably so few people even know coils like this have existed and just how potent they can be in certain tasks that there is no demand and therefore no genuine interest. Everyone wants depth, depth, depth, but there is a reason these type coils often got banned at competitive hunts. Ground coverage often is the best strategy, not depth. You just can’t beat these coil for covering ground fast cleaning up shallower targets. Perfect especially for hitting very large areas looking for recent drops.

Ah well, time to let it go I suppose. Maybe it’s better I have mine and few others do - seems like I am always advocating for competition for myself!

If NokMak made a cleansweep that fit my Kruzer I’d gladly overpay for one right this second!!!

I'd love to see them make a 4 x 18 coil.  I had a Tesoro unit years ago, what a freaking clad broom.  Should have kept it but I missed having a TID readout.  If N/M made one for the Simplex, how many more Simplex's would they sell just for that coil?  I bet a ton.

To make it submersible, that tesoro coil would need to be filled with epoxy which would make it significantly heavier. What's wrong with the existing 7" concentric Nokta/Makro already have?

That Tesoro 8" concentric coil is submersible. I take it out in the water all the time. It is so thin it sweep thru the water so easy. Nothing wrong with that Nokta 7" concentric coil which I will probably be using.. I just like that thin Tesoro coil in the water.

My Simplex arrived today, and of course its snowing and 25 degrees out.  Yesterday it was 75.  So I'm stuck inside for a few days and  figured I might as well make the most of the situation.
Very well made unit.      Here are some Target ID numbers, air testing,  Silver half... 94  .Silver  25c …...90,   silver dime  ...83,   nickle...25, one cent copper...73, 1c zinc  66,  $1 gold coin...22,  $2.50 gold....38, $5 gold, ….56.   I like the wide spacing between the coins at the upper end of the scale.
TRASH...……. rusty bottle cap....30's to 50's, plated cap....55,  round pulltab with tail extended....30,  round pulltab with tail bent over the ring....36,  tail.....21, square tab....30, 3/4 " long lead fishing weight.....38.  Alum twist cap...68.
The relic mode tested out the deepest , followed by all metal , then park mode.  I
In relic mode, I manually set up the GB at 90, full sensitivity , volume at 4, no headphones. Inside my 12 x 24' shop with 3 fluorescent lite fixtures and a pellet stove cranking out heat.
      Repeatable audio signal,  50c silver …...17"...…. VID readout 11"...……...25c silver ,  14"  &10"...……...10c silver, 13" & 9",  5c......14" &11",  1c copper, 14" &10" ,  Ultra thin womans 14k gold ring......13"  &10"
      $1 gold coin, 11" & 8",  2.50 gold coin..13" &10",  4% gold coin...15" & 10".
In park mode with is 3 tone, and a faster speed, for better separation,  same settings,  as the relic mode,   solid audio & solid VID readout is as follows.  50C....13" & 11", 25c....12" & 10", 10c....10" & 9",
      5c....12" & 10",  1c..10" & 9",  ultra thin gold 14k gold ring.....10"  & 9" ,  $1 gold...9" & 6",  2.50 gold..11"  & 9", $5 gold..12" & 10".
Air depths in all metal mode  were about an inch greater than the audio in park mode.
These are all air tests, it will be interesting how this unit does in real soil testing conditions.
I had an EQ800 and loved it, but had to let it go in summer when my wife ran up some hefty medical bills.  This unit is waterproof like the EQ,  but an affordable price tag( for me).  I think I will really like the expanded target readout range.  That was one thing I disliked about the EQ, was the compressed  VID numbers.  The EQ was one heck of a performer , but I think I will have just as much fun with this unit!  When it warms up I will get out and share my results , thoughts and opinions!  HH.  Red

Hi all...new to forum as I am also new to metal detecting. Just received my Simplex, going over the settings and I noticed something that I hope other owners can help me with. In the manual it says there are 5 Frequency Shift settings, F1 thru F5. In every YouTube video I've watched, that shows the settings of the Simplex, I've seen these 5 "F" settings. But on mine I have just 3 (F1, F2 & F3). Does anyone know why mine is just showing 3? Yes I've updated the firmware and running v2.68. Note: it was also showing just 3 Frequency Shift setting options before I updated the firmware from v2.67.
