Not what I would call chevron gold, but a nice nugget find all the same. Congratulations!

Chevron gold is not unique to this area. It refers to a repeating herringbone pattern seen in some nuggets, and is a reflection of the crystal habit repeated over and over.

The technical term was eluding me but just came to mind. It is seen not just in gold, and in mineralogy these are referred to as hopper crystals.

Unfortunately, those monsters have been confined to my dreams thus far and likely will forever stay there. I am just glad if I don't get skunked on any given day and any size nugget will make my day. If I want to think big, I either wait for those monsters to appear in my dreams at night or I just look at JP's pics 🙂
