Thank you very much for your answer .... I tell you that with the AT gold I take out pips the size of a louse, but I get my attention as in the 15gr nugget of the photo I did not detect it and the AT Max yes, that is the main reason to update my old At gold

Both the Minelab Gold Monster and White's Goldmaster 24K have performance close enough that I consider them roughly equivalent and I am happy to use either. I would recommend either as a performance upgrade to the AT Gold if nugget detecting is the sole intended goal. Both pack more power on both small and large gold than the AT Gold. The choice should be made on the scales of simplicity versus adjustability plus your local price and service options. The Monster is made with as few controls and adjustments as is possible, whereas the 24K has more control options than most nugget detectors. The Monster may seem constraining to some and the 24K too complicated to others, so I recommend looking at the owners manuals for both at the links above when making the decision between them.

A note on the Goldmaster weight. Absolute weight is not as important as balance, and the 24K although it weighs more it creates less arm strain in long term use than lighter nose heavy models. This is because the battery box under the arm offsets the coil weight, eliminating the torque created when swinging detectors that are nose heavy.

The AT Max has more raw power than the AT Gold in all metal mode. That is why it was manufactured. The detectors mentioned earlier by all of us can all easily detect the small nuggets in your photo and they all can detect the big nuggets too. For me in your extreme detecting environment, the questions would be ease of use, battery charging, waterproofing and weight. All of these detectors will find the gold better than your AT Gold.

I like to have options to play depending on the area where I am detecting, I do not want the lack of adjustments to limit me.
As for the price here in Argentina all the detectors that I comment at a similar price.
80 -90% of the use is gold nuggets, 20 -10% copper silver coins.
I detect in old gold tillage in floods, there is fine and coarse gold, the previous weekend my at gold did not detect a nugget from 14 -15gr to 25 -30cm while at max if ... I do not intend to find gold at 1 meter deep but go as deep as a VLF can

in very small nuggets the AT max did not generate a signal while at Gold emitted a clear signal, we compared it quite a lot in the gold mines .... I would like a good configuration detector that gives me options to play depending on the work area, rechargeable battery, wireless headphones, waterproof against rain and accidental wetting .... not much more

The Minelab Equinox 800, if you learn it, is the best “do everything” option. That is the machine I personally use for coin, relic, jewelry, and gold nugget detecting. It will outperform the AT Gold on both small and large gold, and is waterproof.

For best performance on small gold I recommend the small accessory coil featured in the link below. For large nuggets the Equinox with 15” coil in multifrequency on mild to moderate ground will outperform virtually all VLF alternatives.

next week I will compare the AT max At Gold and the EQ 800 of a friend to see how he behaves, I do not have to compare the rest of the equipment, it seems to me that I will go to the Eq 800: D
this is me

The AT Max is more powerful but operates at a lower transmit frequency 13.6 kHz than the AT Gold and will not detect very small gold like detectors transmitting at higher frequencies.
