800 Sticker On My 600

Recommended Posts

Hello, brand new to the hobby, first post. So I ordered and received my 600 from Kellyco the other day. After using it for a bit I realized the backlight has many levels of adjustment. I turned it over and saw the “Equinox 800” sticker on the shaft. It does not have the gold mode or 20 & 40 kHz single frequency modes.  So it’s like they ran of 600’s, and just grabbed an 800 and disabled the 800 features manually but left the multi backlight enabled. I haven’t checked any other 600/800 features. Has anyone else seen this?
Thank you.

I don't think you can manually disable the modes on the 800 to turn it into a 600. Maybe its a clone. Return it and get a different one or contact Minelab for look see.

Happy Holidays

Aren't shafts same for both 600 and 800? Backlight levels only mean your 600 has got the latest firmware v2 (2.1.12). Please feel free to correct me!

Does it have another button on the right side under the Wifi button. If not, it is a 600

The latest software update added an extra backlight setting for the 600

You have an Equinox 600. There are no stickers on the shaft unless somebody at Kellyco placed one there. Bottom line is the wrong sticker on the shaft does not change what the detector is. The detector says which model it is right on the front under the display, and as Jeff pointed out the 600 does not have a User Profile button under the WiFi button.

I could be wrong here, only had my 800 a couple weeks.  But have read and watched everything I can find on the NOX.  I believe the latest update to the series gave the 600 the multi back lighting option.

Then that explains it! Thank you! (No, there is no profile button) but yes, the sticker on the bottom of the shaft right next to where the grip mounts says “Equinox800” I guess that threw me off for some reason. I’m not disappointed at all, My biggest concern if it was an 800 was that someone else who paid for an 800 would wind up with my 600. Or that I somehow got a fake product.
Thanks again everyone!

I pulled a whole bag full of bullets, casings, an unfired cartridge, lots of can slaw, a hacksaw blade, some modern coins, a nail, and a couple strange aluminum discs out of my backyard today! All treasures! (Except the can slaw of course)

Afternoon all!  I know that there have been many programs out there for the 800, but are there any well known programs for the 600?  Mainly coin and relic hunting!  I like the preset park and field modes but wanted to possibly branch out and try something different.  Thanks! HH.

MY UNIT IS FRIED!  Evidently the Equinox can not even be rinsed off in the shower after use. What a piece of JUNK.  Two months to go in Mexico and I have a boat anchor. 😡   Minelab engineers should all be fired.

The other day GB-Amateur said something that caught my interest about EMI problems with the 800.
So I could not help myself on trying to figure out why. I first rolled back to my original software 1.75 and went outside to look in my yard like i normally would.
Every time I had gotten within 50 feet of the power lines the unit would give false ID's of what was on the ground, and it just got worse from there.
I went further away from the lines and it would clear up until I got near the front of my home where my wifi router is located. When I looked at the display the display numbers were bouncing once again.
When I went to the back yard away from everything the 800 was as always working like it should and I even found a 1951 quarter.
I went back into the house to do the upgrade once again and retraced my steps with the new update.
I had no problems under the power lines no mater how close I got to them, I did find some really good targets that I will go back and dig up when it gets warmer.
I went to the front of my house and once again the 800 worked as it should without any interference at all. That is until I walked up to the front porch window and then I had a little bit of bouncing numbers.
I believe that the new update has solved most if not all of the EMI problems that I have had in the past, which is a good thing for me.
Under the power lines is where the used to tie up the horse carriages at the original church and that is where I have found some coins from the 1800's. Now with this new update I feel more confident that I will be able to find some really nice items there, and in my front yard.
Thanks for reading and tell me what you think about your update and EMI problems since the update.
