Next time it gives me fits I will pop it apart and see what I can find. There are 3 turn and 5 turn ones out. Not sure what would be sealed mil spec if even available that would be the same size.

Thanks

Tesoros 3 3/4 turn 100k pots where custom bulk made. That's why no one has them in stock. Will be very hard to even find. You can find other values of them. Easier to get a 10 turn. Plenty of room in the Tejon case as its larger than the umax cases. If you go with a  10 turn pot, you may find that actual usable range for GB is only a few turns. And the 3 3/4 turns is plenty good enough for fine adjustment.

In some older Tesoros they had 100K GB trimpots on the circuit board for adjusting GB, as they were fixed GB units. It would be a mistake to replace it with an external GB 100k control. As actual GB usable range was from 20-40K. Best to use a 50K. See Tesoro used 100k trimpots as that is what they had on hand and were set at around 24-28K to handle most ground conditions.

If replacing a current external control, replace it with the same value that is printed on it.

Pictured are 10 turn pots I used to be able to buy off ebay from China, they take up no more room than a standard 1 turn pot. I would use them on my PI's.

I was able to fix it for now as the o-ring was split and all working like new but I'm sure it will wear out again. I'll look on AliExpress for those, wider range of parts that don't typically show up on ebay. Was afraid if I used a 10 turn I would wear out my thumb.

Thanks Sven

This extremely thick grease is sometimes branded as 'Kilopoise' grease ( from the unit of viscosity ), one possible place to look is HiFi specialists, as it's used to damp down tone-arms on high-end turntables.
Another possible source I have heard of is for radio-control vehicles. They use heavy grease in limited-slip differentials, one brand is Traxxas:
traxxas grease

These are just suggestions, I've never used any of these products on detector controls.

I actually used some high temperature silicone grease used on an old bi-metal thermometer I had to conduct the heat to the back of the unit. Probably the same stuff. Viscosity on that is the same when it is below freezing and above 200F. Will see how good it holds up this season, been pretty cold, snowy and rainy and I don't take that machine out in bad weather.

The washer made the biggest difference. Glad Detecta pointed that out.

You really want silicone grease made specifically for under water camera housings. Sold by specialty camera shops and scuba dive shops. And you want to use just a very thin film. https://www.ikelite.com/products/silicone-lubricant-set-of-4
