Answer to that Challenge: ORX wins handily.

I can elaborate if anyone wants me to...

OK video just laying out the facts but their swing technique can use some work...

Yeah,

that was just an XP infomercial with lots of fluff and little substance. I enjoy using both the ORX (when I want to do some serious detecting and need to look at a display) and the Deus Lite (when I want to relax, don't care about what I find, and just want to hunt by ear).  I do sometimes actually try to see the Deus Lite display and have thought about trying to put some kind of magnifier on it but.............  The ORX is a seriously good detector for relics and prospecting and once I got used to it, turned out to be very good for everyday coins and jewelry if there isn't too much trash or if I have the patience to wade through the trash.

I am sensing some defensiveness here. My commentary is in no way a reflection of whether the video merited posting.  I’m glad you posted it even though I had already seen it posted on various XP sites and Facebook groups.  But if it is posted here then it is also fair game for commentary especially if it purports on the surface to be some sort of detector comparison.  It is certainly up to the readers/viewers to decide for themselves what they think but I am not going to hold back my opinion, just as I have no expectation that everyone will agree with mine.  Just calling it as I see it and the forum exists as a platform for sharing opinions not just as a one way vendor information posting board.

I am not being defensive.  I just gave my reason for posting.  Lots of videos I may find as junk, unhelpful, unworthy, etc.  So I post what’s on manufacturers channels.  I try not to post absolute junk YouTube’s done by individuals on this forum.

Like I said, I find no fault in posting the video, David.  It is not absolute junk by any stretch. But just because it comes from a manufacturer and boasts good production values doesn’t necessary make it a great video either.  I think it accomplished what XP’s objectives were by just putting the facts about each setup out there which is helpful in a manner of speaking,  but it did not really inform the viewer of the nuanced pros and cons of each setup to enable the viewer to make a decision.  To do that XP would have to ultimately be critical of one of the two setups (not going to happen) because it really isn’t a 50-50 proposition even from the most objective point of view.

But yeah, let the viewers decide for themselves.  I’ve made my decision.  And I agree having the information in the first place is a helpful first step.

Glad you posted it.

Hello to all ,while i am confined i thought it will be good to put the extra spare time to learn a new skill. So i started to work on a Youtube channel so far i must have spend around 60/70hours as i know sh%^ about the whole thinghy.
I started with a tiny budget for the gear to add to the challenge ,but with eBay it is always possible to get bargains .After watching lots of tutorial ,i uploaded my first clip .
Whats the plan to record some of my beach prospecting and Thames mudlarking session.Testing gear only the one i own , i wont buy to open boxes and film,i am planning to use some vintages machines as well. You can notice that the nickname is MUDRIPPER ........or shorter Ripper thats what i am called here after founding human remaisn and spending 4 hours at the Police Station on a Easter Sunday 😁😁😁😁
I ll try to focus on quantity rather than quantity and NO PLANTING OF FINDS like those glory hunters. If you know me well, you will know that i am more interested by the gear and the search ,the chase the the nice finds, are only the rewards.
Here is the link of the channel with of course limited content at the moment:)
      Enjoy

Mining Relic's of the Mother Lode
There are relic's from the California Gold Rush all over the State.
The pictures in the video are from Grass Valley to Beckwourth and just about every camp or village in between.
When Gold was discovered in California in 1848 it started a mass expedition to the territory in search of great wealth.
I hope you enjoy the pictures and the video I just love visiting the Historic mining towns and sites .

Cool old wooden sluice box we cam across on a hike out from our claim.    We will feature this old site in a video shortly once I get time!
There was also an old cabin and some old hand-stacked workings.
