Ill have to agree with JP on this-Although I havent used a X coil yet its very true with the Evo and the Elite coils as well-Ive noticed if the ground is wet they start getting noisier and hitting on hot rocks that normally not a problem when the ground is dryer-so then you dumb up your settings and what have you gained -Mike C...

There is a lot of great information being presented by all the parties involved. Some seem to have issues with what is seen as over glowing promotion of the X Coil with a downplay made of anything at all that might present a negative. People are actually ridiculed for having concerns about coil modification and made to feel as if they are losers for not jumping on the bandwagon. Then others are perhaps too much the other way focusing on negatives. Various parties here have vested financial interests or benefits that are not always being made clear.

In general a small group of Aussies and Kiwis make specific mention of each other in their posts and generally inflame each other. I'm not going to sort any of the preceding out trying to clean it up as their are many valid opinions that have been expressed. Hopefully everyone has it out of their systems. I hereby request that people refrain from addressing each other directly or indirectly in each others posts. Pokes even in jest are certainly not being taken lightly. If anyone wants to talk about their specific experience with an X Coil please do so. But quit with the commentary on each others posts. Let people speak to their own experience, and speak to your own.

If I love the X Coil and say so, that's my opinion and let it be. if I think the X Coil has issues that's my opinion and let it be. Quit trying to countermand and argue with each others opinions. All the drama on all these forums combined always is the same half dozen Aussies and Kiwis while all the other posters scratch their heads and wonder what all the fuss is about. Just let it go and move on. I like all you blokes, you all have great info to share, and I wish you could all play well together. I've tried very hard to keep things such that vastly differing personalities can coexist here without strife but something about the X Coil sure does bring out the drama.

There, I had my say. You have all had yours. This is the last X Coil thread that I want to see this kind of back and forth starting up on. Further posts devoid of detecting information will be deleted.

It's just bloody stupid dumb ass metal detectors, not life and death. People are supposed to be here united in common interest, not divided over the details of that common interest.

Not only do I enjoy seeing the perseverance involved in detecting and then recovering those bits that hide in bedrock crevices, but the scenery is spectacular to say the least. It is a totally different ball game to detecting here in Australia.

You tell it how it is, and if you swear by X coils, then that is part of the story. Don't be intimidated, just keep doing what you do well.

Staying mostly on the sidelines, I have to say I learned a lot from this thread regarding technical details and experiences and I am looking forward to future discussions on this topic. Having close to no experience with the X-coils, I am intrigued by the potential these coils seem to present in situations favorable for their design. I very much enjoy all the experts in the field and consider an optional X-coil purchase myself. That being said, I also very much appreciate JP's expertise and his advise regarding the in's and out of the ML machines and all his technical expertise. It is rare to find someone with his skills and experience, just as it is a pleasure to learn from all you other guys who truly champion the passion we share. I try to learn every day to improve my performance in the field and your posts are a vital component for my learning, just as I am sure it is for many others on this forum. Let's continue to share our passion for gold hunting and learn from each other, regardless of your preferences fro equipment.
