friends I plan to buy a Garrett ATX. Steve, can you give me information about this detector? Is it worth buying or should I turn to another brand?

Tell us more about what kind of gold detecting you are hoping to do and where you are located. Without any information there is no way to offer you any real advice, other than to say that I personally would buy a Minelab GPX 4500 for gold prospecting before I’d get another ATX. If you are in Australia the QED might be another option.
