Old Canadian Copper

I went field hunting today for the first time. I used my 340/V12 combo.  What a blast!  First big old copper for me.  Probably doesn’t mean much to other people, but it was an 1861 1 cent piece with the New Brunswick name on it.  I’m in Maine and half Canadian.  That half is from that province.  The 340 blew me away on how it did.

Also a few old buckles, a button, and a 1925 wheatie.

That's a cool find!  I don't know much history of Canada, but since 1867 is celebrated as the year of independence, this was coined 6 years prior.  Have you looked into how rare it is?  Oh, and the condition appears pretty decent.  I found an early 20th century Canadian large cent which was badly corroded in our (alkaline?) soil.  Other than a bit of discoloring and a spot of green scale yours has aged well.  (And now my canned request:  please don't do any cleaning at least until you've determined it has little numismatic value.)
