Simplex: Wired Headphones Poor Volume

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I've just received my Simplex+  2.77 (coming from a Teknetics T2).

I connected my wired headphones and immediately noticed that volume is very  poor.

At L1 level I can't hear anything; at L2 a little bit more... and so on... To have a decent volume I have to rise to max (H4), just to operate in a quite environment.

Wrong headhones?

Keep in mind that:

I use a jack adapter (6.3 to 3.5)

Headphone are some Philips wired model (nothing special)

They have no volume control

All cables are well plugged in

Simplex speaker plays loud as expected

I tried with other headphones (no brand) but no joy

Same headphones play loud with my old Teknetics

Simplex battery is near full

Any help will be appreciated.

I used White's Pro Star and the volume was loud. I would try a different headphone.

Yes, but which one? I have no chance to try a lot of headphones until I find the one that works.

I could go for Nokta headphones, possibly wireless, but honestly I don't feel like spending 100€ (more or less).

All wired headphones I have tried on the Simplex have been super loud!

Recon-ST's (same drivers as Sunray Pro Golds)

Yoga earbuds

Sony MDRv55 headphones

Technics dj headphones

Anything half decent quality around 32 Ohms should be giving you plenty of volume

Maybe I've found: it's the headphones adapter, probably the cable that came with the Simplex.

Inserting slowly the 6.3mm jack into the adapter-cable, jus for few millimeters, I have a loud sound on both channels.

Inserting it more I loose one channel.

Inserting it completely I have poor sound on both channels.

My 3.5 mm to 6.3 adapter works fine with Teknetics T2 and Garret Ace 250, so I suppose Nokta adapter is faulty.

Hello all, I have just received my Simplex today (2.78 version) and the volume on the wired headphones is also very low. I am using Garrett MS-2 headphones which work great on my other machines. Perhaps a bad batch of headphone adapters?
