Sorry Steve , but for some reason I'm a little shell shocked at your scoop selection. I've owned more scoops than detectors. I just like to try them out. Some good , some bad. But I think you said you hunt the water when at the beach. And why you don't use bigger , stronger SS or aluminum/SS tipped scoop is beyond me. I guess that is your style though , what you like.

It’s a stainless steel scoop, quite strong. It works. So what’s the problem? I’m a practical guy. If something works, I use it. If not, I get something else.

I did actually order another scoop, but I think I’ll just keep that one to myself. Probably also not up to standards.

I often use no scoop at all.

Ah ha..  ok I looked closer. It's not a bad SS.... guess I figured you for the latest and greatest. Plus with all your VIP connections , these guys would be throwing scoops at you !

Steve, thats A LOT of aluminum your digging! There’s has to be gold there. And by the looks of it, some of those pull tabs are VERY old! I seldom find any pull tabs at the lake I’m finding my gold at, all the other hunters have already got them and people have been swimming there since the 30’s! And yes, knee to crotch level is where I find most gold too.

I’m getting the depth so getting some older targets for sure, like the older tabs and a buffalo nickel is a sure sign. Plenty of nickels and most have some age, on,y one recent drop. Running a PI the place hardly feels detected at all, but I know that’s not true. It’s just that the magnetite is crazy thick here. I’m tempted in a couple spots to just dig everything as one area has enough largish steel it could be masking quite a bit of stuff, including older silver. Be a good place to maybe pull some quarters and halves, maybe even a silver dollar.

Being out west you have a better chance at getting a silver  dollar than in the east. I did get one about 20 years ago in the same small park that they tore down the Fredrick  Douglass  statue. The statue was not there  when I found  just after it got    dark outside. It was a 1892-o.I  know someone who found a  trade dollar too.
