That's a good idea but most of the time my chest is submerged. Maybe a High Vis hat...

The history of protected swimming holes exists in other areas too but you have population numbers working for you and length of time.  You've borrowed and mastered techniques we can't imagine on the left coast.  Lost and remain in place exists where you are.

When I think of the Chesapeake I think of the book by James Michener.  I don't know if it is accurate enough to give you swimming hole clues but it is one of my favorite books.

There were bath houses on the oceans but the water was very cold most of the year over here and the storms disperse the remains.
